Chroming the mirror covers??

I am thinking of getting my mirror covers chromed,

i think it would look really good with the color of my car,

has anyone done this???

audi does this on their cars and it looks really good with lighter colored cars

Never seen them on a 5th gen, but just a suggestion: it might be easier/cheaper for you to buy the chrome mirror covers + turn signals that are being sold in the 5th gen classified forum.

it'll cost me 35 bucks to have both covers chromed, and they will fit snug, unlike the covers over covers

His response was relevant... you said you were wondering how it'd look if ya chromed your mirrors because you thought it looked good on Audis, and his point was that Audis have brushed aluminum mirrors and not chromed mirrors, so if ya chromed em, they may not turn out as nice as what ya saw on the Audis.

Sure, you were asking if anyone had done it... but he was simply pointing out an observation for your benefit... no hostility was intended and no need for you to get your panties in a bunch because of that.

ive sceen the chrome mirror directionals and i have the painted mirror directionals, i honestly dont like the chrome look. unless you have alota chrome. rims b-pillars and grill , maybe it would look nice, just take a look at the hemi package of the 300-c to see if you like the crome look....

you could paint them with the duplicolor chrome paint (i think dupont makes it too) and then get a foggy clearcoat (if you can find one) i am actually thinking of doing this too but i dont want my mirrors looking like the chrome plated ones on the avalanche/escalade (or whatever stupid truks have them, i cant remember exactly).

actually they are standard on all "S" audis (S4,S6,S8,RS4,RS6) and an option on the allroad

i've been sitting on this idea for the longest time, wanting to be the first to do it. ive got the chrome covers, putting them on tomorrow. mocked them up- and yes it does look as good as i thought it would.

chroming the covers wont work, they are plastic. motostorm and other companies make a basecoat/clearcoat chrome paint you could use, should not be expensive- maybe $20 in materials + labor.

Hello Everyone. We have a various assortment of different paints that can create the chrome look realistically. Our motochrome would be the weapon of choice if you'd like to chrome the mirrors. In my opinion, i'd go with the hyperblack(black chrome) or alumifec. Alumifec creates the exact look of the audi's. It's a satin chrome effect which comes the closest to real metal, plus they can all be clearcoated for durability. We have a special 25% off our special effect paints for org members only running until the end of may. Check out our site and let us know you are from the org!! Thanks
