Just installed Berk Intake

Took me about 1 1/2 hour.... total... most of it was tryin' to get the Maf connected to the coupler thing... well i think there is a lil problem but it could be just me... theres a lil hissing sound... it's very obvious when i open the hood but barely noticable when i closed it... i clean my throttle body also while i installed the intake... but i'm hopin' I installed it correctly... also i have a question about the duct tube thing that is from the front... now if i take it out.. what do i do with the "booster sensor" and the other one that is connected to the tube... thanx for anyone's help in advance!!!

The process was well done and the sound is GREAT!

Thanks Berk!

the hissing is the air being sucked into the filter. Put your ear to it and youll hear it. My intake does the same thing. Very noticable when hoods open and quiter when its closed. But when a romp on it its wicked mean sounding. But im sure its the air goin into the filter head. check it out man and lemme know.

well for some reason.... the noise is just louder than my 4th gen.. maybe it's just the way it was made... i thought i installed it wrong or something... but another thing i see is... it isn't as loud as my 4th gen either... it seems to be loud only when i REALLY REALLY press on it... but it could be b/c i'm inside the car and it doesn't just seem as loud as if i was in a 4th gen... from a video clip i heard.. i thought it would be louder... i wonder if i installed wrong or anything.. but it seems like i did a pretty good job and from pictures everything went the way it suppose to but i'm not sure where to put the 2 sensors that are connected to the snorkel part of the intake when i take out the snorkel (which i haven't done yet)

well every car acts differently with an intake. For example my buddies 4th generation has the place racing and that is louder then all hell. Its wicked awesome too, the placement is perfect. Inside the car it sounds only really loud when he presses on it good. so i wouldnt worry about it dude, if you get a chance just look over all the conncetions and look at the instructions and make sure its all perfect. good luck!

I also noticed a sluggish shiftin' pattern too.. not sure if it's stick gears but it hesitates to shift to the next gear up... I have a feeling it's a tranny problem... but I'm not sure... I noticed it also when I didn't have the intake but of course when I got the intake I did a couple of WOT to check the sound and the shifting is kinda hestitated... I hope it's not the tranny though.... :-(

Great to hear that the intake is on nicely... you'd better check on that hesitation though... I know there were several threads about it recently... I'm sure some people will be able to give ya comments... go easy on the gas now...

Just out of curiousity, has anyone heard both Stillen and Berks intake, and if so, which has a nicer growl in your opinion?

The Berk sounds just like the Frankencar, which sounds like this:

You have the Stillen I see, so maybe you can tell us how they compare, although I'd think that since the Stillen doesn't come with a mid-pipe, it'd sound a little louder and rougher...

WOW, that intake sounds sick! Now I know why so many people here have Berk intakes. I like my Stillen, however, if I had to choose between the two I think I'd go with Berk or Frankencar. No disappointments here though. I'm pretty satisified with what I have

Most intakes sound alike. I personally think that cattman and frankencar have the loudest ripping sound. Im going to be buying a cattman within the next month or so.

On the Injen CAI side of things, the only time I hear it is at WOT. Other times, it sounds stock.

The hissing is normal with an aftermarket intake like the Berk. I've also noticed a weird moment between gears on my auto at WOT. I don't know how to describe it. It's like it's just not shifting quickly. Maybe I'll take a sound clip and post it so you guys can compare it to what your autos are doing. I don't know if it was always there and it's just more noticeable now that I have the intake or if it's a new problem.

Looks like a bunch of us will be going in for a valve body modification.

Or a Tranny recall we should make a petition or something we would have so many maxima owners 02-03 need new trannys or rebuilts

there is a tsb for the shifting, but if you car is out of warranty it is not cheap. my shifting problem was fixed though. they replaced the shift solenoids and tcm.

Your car is a 2000. Does the TSB apply to the 5.5th gen (2002/2003) too?

The Getto Air Box sounds the meanest. With it's technologically superior, state of the art, government tested design, not only does it provide quality, unmatched performance, but it growls like a tiger who just ate it's young.
