The tech who did it said that my timing was originally at 12 degrees - not sure if I believe that On hearing that news I was expecting a whole new car - but I didn't feel too much on the short drive home. I'll have to test it out more tomorrow. Maybe it's just too hot here right now - the temp is over 100, and the humidity is bad. My car was already feeling slower - maybe I'll feel it better when it cools down next week
Floor it from around 30-35MPH. From a stand still, you won't really notice it. It increases highway performance mostly.

From reading only 5 pages of this thread, is it safe to say that with this mod I must run 91+ octane gas? Anything lower will detonate?

YES AND NO. you won't detonante, factory knock sensor will retard timing if lower octane is used....but why would you want to do that

A $1-2 difference (per full tank) between sh*t gas and premium isn't going to kill you...

That is a ridiculous statement coming from someone that drives an I35. The "I don't get premium because I can't afford it" argument is so beaten to death (and so stupid I might add). Over the long run you will end up costing yourself more by running a lower grade of octane.
