question on the way my car sits...
My left rear side sits lower than my right rear side. The space between the tire and the car is about .5-1 inch difference. Does anyone know that the problem is? Im on stock struts and springs. Is it the spring?...the strut?... Thanks

it can be a number of things, i noticed the same with my car but it was the road it was kind of unlevel so it explained it. However, with you, Charlie, you probably have a bad strut, signs to look for is oil patch or leak on the strut, that is a indicator that your strut has gone bad.

after dropping my car i noticed that the driver's side is a little lower than the passanger's side. in my case, i think, it might have to do with weight distribution - most of the time i drive alone in the car. when i put a few people in the car the problem seems to disappear for a few days.

i had a major position problem when i had my legend coupe, turns out the koni adjustables i put on the car had spring perches, and i had set it wrong, but yeah usually if you ride by yourself all the time, over the years your car just sits that way

Guys, the strut should have zero to do with ride height. It's the spring that dictates the height. If you remove a strut and lean on it, you'll see that the strut has a very minimal amount of resistance as long as the shaft is compressed slowly...certainly not enough to have a notable impact on ride height. Remember, the strut is only there to control the movements of the spring. So if the spring isn't moving, the strut isn't doing anything.
I can think of only 4 causes:
1. Spring is sitting at different places on the perch
2. Spring isn't properly seated in the rubber seal under the top hat
3. Springs were manufactured with slightly different ride heights (stiffness).
4. Uneven weight distribution
Strange, I just posted a thread regarding how my Max seems to have far worse stock wheelgap than others. The springs don't appear to be consistently manufactured or perhaps different suppliers were utilized.

A couple of people have reported uneven driver/passenger ride heights here: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=385608. Apparently fairly common. FWIW - I noted my driver's side is around bit lower as well.

Also did you jack up your car recently, I noticed after I jack up my car it streches the spring and sits a little higher for a while.

i actually jacked the car up today.. the two fronts to do my brakes. I did notice that space on my drivers rear did grow just a little. But aside from that... is it my spring thats giving me the problem or my strut? b/c if change my springs to maxspeeds, i dont want to end up with the same problem of uneven stance... just lower ride height of course..
