5.5 gen owners who have swapped your HID bulbs please help

I was looking at these bulbs...

http://www.xenondepot.com/product.php?product_id=41

I noticed when taking apart my headlights to fix my DDE's that there is some sort of ballast attached to the bulb itself. When I e-mailed Xenon Depot asking if that ballast is included they said it is not. They ship just the bulb. My question is that it doesn't look to me like that ballast is detachable from the bulb? For those of you that replaced your OEM HID's what did you do? Thanks in advance for your help.

There is no ballast on the bulb, the ballast is at the very bottom of the headlight. You realy cant see it unless you take your whole headlight out. By the way I have a pair of brand new eagle eye d2r 6000k bulbs that I can sell you for $180 shipped. These bulbs are brand new and have never been used. Email me if interested at akogan26@yahoo.com.

Well maybe it's not a ballast but it's a black box that connects to the bulb itself. I wish I had taken pics the other day. Sorry for explaining it lousy but does anyone know what I'm talking about? This "ballast" sits right next to the bulb once you take off the dust cover to gain access to the bulb.

Rogo, How did you install your bulbs? Does the bulb just unscrew?

Hey man,

I just did my DDE install so I think I can help. The ballast itself is below the housing, and you pretty much have to remove the headlight to get to it. The thing that attaches to the bulb is the socket, and it is somewhat large so I can see how you might think it's the ballast. It does come off the bulb: you just twist counter-clockwise (I think) and pull it off. Then there is a metal squeeze-pin type thingy actually holding the bulb into the housing. It's really pretty simple to take the bulb out.
