all comments are appreciated. I know it might not be the most aestheically (spelling) pleasing, but it serves the purpose that I wanted and folds out of the way when not in use. Thanks all for the input. And I cant take credit for making it myself. I came up with the idea for it but bought the product online. Although fabrications had to be made to install it.

Decent work on the install, but not my bag. I am not being asked but I would prefer a dash unit.

While I applaud the effort, the stand is very very ugly and obtrusive, and the placement is sh!tty.

i'm gonna have to agree with everyone on here. and by that i mean nice job on the install it's an interesting idea but since you can only watch dvds in the front seat when parker or if your passenger wants to watch one why not just put the portable dvd player on your lap?

I have to say at first I didnt know what to think of it, but it has grown on me. The reason I didnt go with an indash setup was because I have the bose and it wouldnt work with the bose ohms or whatever I have been told. Also, I do a lot of traveling in other cars and wanted something I could watch dvds on portable. I didnt really have the $ to do both so I decided to go this route. I can fold it out of the way or I can completely take it out at any time in less than 5 min. so it's not like it's stuck there or anything. I purposely didnt drill new holes in the florrboard as I used the existing holes drilled to mount the seats to the car as seen in the pictures. I dont plan on leaving the stand in there all the time, just when I need it. I also hooked up a playstation in my car and it gives my back seat drivers something to do. I appreciate the honest comments everyone. I think it beats making my passengers hold it in their lap if they want to watch a movie. Someone mentioned placement also. This was the best place to put it. And it looks bigger in the pics than it really is. It really takes up no room at all for the passengers leg room. Thanks again for the input everyone

I remember buying something like that for my Discman about 10 years ago. Even then it was ugly and I returned it. We've all been really nice, but what we mean to say is that that is super nasty, not clean at all, and totally ruins the interior of a somewhat classy car.

I know this is totally off-topic, but I just saw something interesting. BlkShadow01, who joined December 2004, HOW THE H*LL DO YOU HAVE 330 POSTS ALREADY? I'm really not trying to flame or anything here, and I realize that I have quite a bit myself, seeing as I joined in late October, but jeez, 330 posts in less than a month? Honestly, do you live on here? I'm just curious...

Not my cup of tea..

i already think my setup is clunky which is my 7" screen with xbox and 160gig hd in the trunk (hence i am working on a new computer project which is on hold for my maxima).

I prefer a nice streamlined OEM looking dash, which mine isnt!

I plan on doing something similar with a 7.2" screen, although it won't need a stand, I'll probably just mount it off the vents or something. I understand exactly why you did it, why spend a bajillion dollars on an indash screen when a mount and a portable player works just as well? Shake off dem haters and enjoy your movies.

exactly. Triple8sol, how exactly have i ruined the interior of my car when this is not permanent? I just got done explaining that I only plan on having it in the car when I go on trips or times when I will be having passengers in the car for a little while. Dont plan on leaving it in all the time. So in no way have I ruined the interior. I can put this in and out in less than 5 minutes. I'm not asking whehter this looks the best in the car becuase I dont plan on having it in there all the time. Well the most important thing is that it serves the purpose I need, and I didnt have to spend a ton of money to enjoy something.

Don't care for the placement all that much, but certainly have to give you credit for the effort. Looking at the stand though, would you have been able to mount it to the side of the center console?

Its a creative setup. I have a portable DVD as well, and I sit it on the little flat surface above the center vents with grip pads. Serves its purpose fine; has a nice view for everyone in the car and its not permanent; I hardly use it, but when I do, its convenient. Also, the riders enjoy movies on the Bose system. They like hearing the subwoofer rattle, for some odd reason.

I never got to try that out but I'm glad it works. When I was considering a portable player with screen, I thought that spot would be a good one.

Now my dad has a 7.2" screen I'm trying to obtain from him so with that plus a dvd player I already have as well as the FM modulator that I already have I will have DVDs in the car at no cost!

hey max20se00, how did you hook it up? For the sound to come out of your Bose, you had to hook up the DVD player into the headunit, right? Your bose has audio inputs? where?

hmm didn't see anything in the pic, he'll probably just use an FM modulator though.

Yeah, its a nice spot. As far as sound, I plug a tape adapter into the DVD players headphone jack & put the tape in deck; the sound is great. This is the only time I use my tape deck. Simple and cost efficient if you use the DVD player in your car every now and then.

I didnt even think it was possible to get sound through the bose. I was using the built in speakers of the dvd player. So if i get one of those old tape adpater things used for portable cd players it would work? I dint even think of that. Great idea, thanks! The only reason I dint want to mount it above the ac vents is due to the fact that cops would be able to see it very clear at night and its not legal to be in vision of the driver. So I figured if I mounted it lower than it would decrease the chance of getting pulled over for it.

I like the creativity but the hole thing just seems too much just to have a dvd, I personal have a 7" wide screen indash thats about to replace my bose radio along with all the speakers, just need to take it out of my old lhs. I no i have some work ahead of me but its worth it after all you can't beat having a whole ent. system in the car. But credit for the idea!

Good call on the mounting height, that is one thing I have thought about but at night I rarely pass any cops on the interstate and I have semi-dark tint as well so it would be a small chance of them seeing it. Also, instead of doing one of those tape adaptors, you can do an FM modulator which sells for as low as $20 at wally world. I used it once with a laptop playing some episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm on it and it worked great. The only beef I have with the Belkin model that I have is that you can only set it to 4 different frequencies; 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, 88.7. If you spend a little more you can get one that will take over any frequency, which would also make it fun to change the radio stations of cars next to you

what exaclty does this modulator do? I have heard of them but have no idea how it works. I could plug the portable dvd player into it and it would run through my radio station? And what about changing peoples radio stations? How would you do that?

Yeah, I use the tape adaptor to get sound through the Bose since I rarely use the DVD in the car. Really don't have the money for the fancy stuff right now; plus, most of the time, its just me in the car and why do I need to watch DVDs while driving? I have found it to be a different source of entertainment by listening to the movies however.

It transmits whatever sound is coming from the headphone jack to the radio on a certain frequency. It has a distance of 30ft or so, so if someone next to you tuned in to that frequency they could hear your movie too.
