Just an update...

I have an appointment next week at my local Nissan dealer. The tech I spoke with didn't seem to think that for now, it was a big issue (might be the transmission fluid, etc) so I'm gonna have it checked and see what happens

So I went today. The transmission oil hasn't been probably changed at all ever since the previous owner got the car, it was all black. Plus the pan was rusted, so we did an oil change and changed the pan, plus did a recall on the idle speed dropping sometimes (reprogramming the computer). So far so good, hoping it was just a matter of maintenance

For now, try shifting manually and see if that helps. Not sure about import a/t's but I know the TH350 a/t's I had in my Chevelle and 455 Cutlass would increase the line (hydraulic) pressure and the clutch packs would grab harder. That might at least buy you some time.

FWIW, from the time the a/t starting slipping in my Accord until it was completely fried was about 35,000 miles or so. Of course, it had about half the horsepower as a 5.5 gen Maxima.

That's a good thing to hear, considering I don't travel a lot and work close to home, heck if I do 4000 miles a year..

Since it only does this when cold, for like 5 mins, I'll keep it as is and see what happens... The tech who checked out the car said it was probably a piece in the tranmission, not the whole thing...

Love the car so much, hope the tranny will last for a bit before I have to change it

Well, more news... This morning, as I was getting back from work, the check engine lighted up with the Traction Control on/off and the slip light.. I'll leave the car tonight at the Mazda dealership I bought it from (still have 2 weeks of warranty) and they'll check it tomorrow morning. I explained the problem, hopefully they'll find it... and if need be change the tranny :/

Alright, got a phone call today from the dealership. They indeed confirmed that the tranny is slipping (good thing), and the check engine light gives a "coil misfire" code, which they haven't really seen the effect (tho I did notice a small drop in power ever since the light came on).

Now, they're keeping the car to try it out tomorrow morning again, see if they can reproduce the check engine code. After that, they're gonna call Nissan.

At least, they know the tranny is slipping, and since I still have 2 weeks left of warranty, should be able to change it under it.

25 mins walk to work sucks tho. hehe More info tomorrow as they call me again...

Welp, they're going to replace the tranny, under warranty. They still haven't been able to reproduce the "coil misfire" code, but since they're gonna have the car for at least 5 more days, they'll have the time to check it out in depths...

So, slipping tranny = new tranny...

ok.. i havent really gotten this question answered.. someone said that bad coils, plugs, MAF, TCM, etc. can cause transmission slippage... how can you tell if it's one of these things or actually a defective tranny? Will this procedure tell what the problem is?:

If not, then how do you know if it's actually a bad transmission or one of these things?
