Legality all depends on local laws. You may want to check with some local tint shops and find out what's the darkest you can go.

The darker the better. I have mine double layered, 20% and a 15% layer. It's dark and it's goes great with my black maxima. You're lucky with the black leather, didn't offer it on my 2003.

20% is perfect for a black interior. Looks pretty dark from the outside but not so dark that a cop will KNOW its illegal

In tennessee....35% all around is legal....that's not too dark but you should be satisfied.

I have 35% in the front but 5% in the rear.

It all depends on your personal preference. Some think that too dark tint makes the car look like a ghetto cruiser. Others find it stunningly gorgeous. Decide what works best for you.

My personal preference has always been 13%. Not as dark as 5%, but, every car I've ever driven had tinted windows. So, I prefer it a little bit darker and don't find it quite as distracting.

I have 15% and love it. Depending on the light outside, sometimes it seems quite transparent, others you can't see anything inside unless you glue your face to the window. I wouldn't go under/over the 10-15% range.
