Dropping my max

Guys, I'm a newbie , so bare with me if there is a thread floating around concerning this. I hear rumors that having a lowered suspension is not a good idea in the winter time. Living in Pa, you can see some deep snow at times, so is this really an issue?? I need to start my mods and dropping it could be my first move. Any insight would be great...Thanks

get adjustable ones. you can lower them in the summer, and bring them up higher in the winter. plus how much of a drop are you looking for? i doubt 1" - 1.5" will make that much of a difference

I've never had any issues in the snow with my ~1.7" drop. If you're really paranoid, you could always put the stock springs back on the winter - though I don't feel a drop significantly lowers your utility in the winter. Okay, I did nearly get stuck in the Chiefs parking lot last year, but I was off the trying to drive through a few inches of snow. No issues on pavement.

Also, a lot of spring/strut info on my site.

Not sure how low I wanna go, what is "standard" and looks nice. Probably better to get 18's when I lower it, instead of the stock 16's

Alright, thanks for the info....guess it's time to drop, drop, drop it like its hot

I used to live in PA and moved to FL. I dropped mine 1.5 inches and it didn't cause any problems in PA for my 1st and last winter my maxima will ever see. If you want to be safe, get the adjustable. But even fixed, unless dropped more than 2 inches you should be all right.

save your $$ and get coilovers. way better ride than the spring/strut combo..i had tein stech with GR2s and the ride was bouncy as hell. JICs have a better ride, and take bumps better due to full suspension travel. and, when it snows, just raise the car up 1.5" like i will come november!

here is the car dropped at at nelson ledges last friday...

Thanks guys. Yup, that's my girl. I wanted to get a shot of the Max with those clouds in the background when this storm rolled in. I liked the way the pic came out and she just happened to be standing there. Suppose I should tell her she's now on the net.
