noise problem
I'm looking at a 2000 maxima and I took it for a test drive and noticed a slight, constant humming coming from the front end. This happend on the highway and during random points of driving. The car has winter tires on the front wheels and the dealership assured me that the wide tread tire was causing the noise. But I dont know if i want to beleive them because they bought the car from a lease and had to do some work on it and had to replace the rear struts. I think the car was drove real hard and the noise could be something else, but i definatley could be wrong. Any opinions on what it is would be great.

It's the tires...why are they giving you winter tires on the car...what about the normal sport/allseason it comes with...
ask them to give you sport/allseasons before you buy.
It can also be that with the winter tires..your car achieves a particular frequency which enhances the vibration.
