question about Y pipe install!
Im gonna install a Y pipe this weekend on my 2000 max and I was wondering if Im gonna need new grommet between the cat and y pipe and between the headers and the y pipe. Or could I just use my stock ones or do I need them at all? I have 36,000 miles and was wondering if im gonna have problems removing my o2 sensors. Any help would be appreciated. thanks.... And if anyone has Dave B's phone number could you please give it to me cause I lost it.

I only have 36000 miles on the car and it has always been garaged. In preparation for this install I have sprayed all the bolts that I am going to remove with liquid wrench and I have done this since yesterday and am going to do it tomorrow so it can soak in and hopefully make it easier for me. So are there any gaskets that Im gonna need for this install?

i have the Warpspeed y pipe and the instructions had said to loosen the precat... which is almost impossible .. its really hard to get the screws out..
plus the stock y pipe has so many screws .. you have to have the right tools to get too them .. and if you dont loosen the precat its really hard to take off the y pipe.. so we had to pry it out with a sledge hammer..
again when we put the warpspeed y pipe on we again had trouble fitting it in to the precat.. we had to push it up with a extra jack...
thank god to derrick he know what was going on..
took u s 4 hours
so unless you have the patients .. can handle bangin your fingers and hands all over the place and improvise.. i recommend just getting it done at a muffler shop...
you really have to know what you're doing with this...
its definetly a 2 person job.. (experienced)
good luck

I've tried a couple muffler shops and they won't touch it because of Fed regs on tampering with emission equipment (have to remove one pre cat). I'm going to have to try it on my own. Very nervous about having problems and disabling my car.
