HkMax: Its close but not a direct swap. It will take a lil creativity.

@NgRy: LOL I do need a best friend... But my HID's are very important to me so I will be as patient as necessary to do this correctly.

dba1999us: I will be able to reassemble them, I have taken my other HID's apart twice now.

BlackBirdVQ: I wont be painting them black, I actually like the chrome look. I think it will set off the HID light real nice.

MaximaZero: Yes, the crap ones are held on with 2 screws. It will be very easy to swap them out, I was considering getting the Umnitzas and putting them in.

MaximaPolak: I have no idea if or when i will sell them, or for how much. I guess it all depends on how well this project goes.

Looks like someone is now selling the black housing on ebay for $285.

Would putting an H3 HID kit into these lights look ok or will it be blinding everyone on the road?

Do these projector headlights come with a wire harness for the 2k Maximas, or do you have to do some modifiying to get the high beams working?

If I buy the 2003 OEM HID lights for my 2000, do they sell a harness for it or do I have to do some modifiying?

You have to contact member DAVEB and order a set of clips & a harness. The dealer will ususlly look at you with a look on their face about the harness. His # is 1-888-254-6060.

They should offer these for at least 200-250, btw hey Mingo if you want me to do a profile on your business let me know! I could submit it to a bunch of car mags and possibly get your company out! Anyway in mo they should offer these cheaper since they aren't like the 2k2 lights.

I just bought some HID's off of E-Bay for $500 shipped. Complete HID's and all I have to get is the wiring harness and the clear plastic piece to remove the orange reflector. I much rather pay an extra $180 and get some HID's. Just my opinion and taste.

What you said really didnt make sense, do explain what you mean.
How would you pay and "extra" $180 and get...some hids thats doesnt make sense.
Anyway, the type of HID's that come with the OEM headlights are the reflector types. They dont put out a great deal of light, if you saw the valeo beam pattern & color you'd understand.

I meant that I'd rather pay an extra $180 more than what's being paid for the projector's. I'm just not too sure about the light output that these projector's will put out. I seriously considered the projector's but the price on the HID's was too good.

Understood. The 2K2 hid housing IMO looks great so yeah I even took that route, this is just one level beyond that though. The D2r burner type HID's dont have the ability to put out as much light as the projectors though. You'd have to use about 6000K capsules to even come close to matching the bluish/purple the projectors put out. Yet they do it at 4300K which puts out over 3200lumens so its in a way the best of both worlds. You got the color & the light output. I have 6500K in my headlights & fogs but I really want to convert it over to projectors top & bottom. The real hangup for me is the risk of the headlights, they arnt cheap.

Yea, bascially he just told you that projector HID's are better than non-projector HID's based on their color and light output ability. These projector's do not come with HID's.

He are some photos so you can have an idea of what they look like with the lights on..these will fit the 2k-2k1 perfectly with no mods..just plug them in...the halo rings take some extra effort..(still working on that)...
I took these with my cellphone so I apologize for the quality

OEM 2k2-3 use HID reflectors = decent output - optics better than halogen

Valeo OEM (audi/bmw/etc) projectors (use d2s bulb) = nice even equally dispersed output, optics better than reflectors (use d2r, shielded bulb)

Agnel eye projectors = questionable light optics, halogen projectors are so-so with is light output spread, might get "HOT SPOTS", but optics are different from reflectors (h4)

So, retrofitting a OEM HID projectors in the angel eye housing would produce (hopefully) extremely nice even equally dispersed output.

******
My question would be, would these angel eye projectors, be mistaken for the OEM 2k2-3 housings and GET RIPPED OUT.... tristate org'er wanna know....

HK Max,

I think we can greatly enhance the quality of the Angel Eyes for about $100-109, but if you could email me the dimensions of the projector, we could see if we have anything lower priced in stock

Did you just buy a pair of STOLEN HID's off ebay?

Putting a D2S bulb in there would not give off a good quality output. The optics of that reflector are most likely cheep, but are also designed for the focal point of the projector to align with the vertical filament of an H3 bulb. Putting a D2S re-based bulb in there with a horizontal arc not located in the focal point of the projector will create a poor beam pattern, hot spots, and glare.

I urge anyone planning on using hid in these housings to replace the projector with a HID projector. There are a number of websites to buy them from and also ebay... it won't be a hard retrofit, and I am sure a number of people are doing it as we speak, and at least one of them will do a write-up.

? Are you asking if I did? No, I have not purchased anything yet, I was wondering if thieves would think that the Projectors are the OEM 2k2-3 ... cuz on the dark, parked street a "dumbA55" good for nothing thief might get ideas and start the rampage, thinking its the OEM HID Housing. - it looks similar in design. sorry to rain on anyone parade. But on a lighter note.... those look NICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCE as heck.

-Anthony

As for the other post, i guess $500 means ... the ebay sage continues.

no BS the low beam ("the wanna be projectors") pattern its a bit weird. It takes some time to get used to, but that's why I will upgrade to HIDs..The high beam looks normal to me...Overall they were good for the price in my opinion..I hated the stock ones on the 2k1 and wanted to change them ASAP, I almost bought a pair of 2k2-2k3s...$$$$. (still got money in my pocket..lol)

I dont mind about emails at all...that is the reason for maxima.org, to help each other out...those gauges were purchased by my wife at a car show in Orlando while I was in Iraq..they cost betwwen $30.00 -40.00. ther are reverse glow and full glow with two color choices of blue or green...i will try to find out information for you by tuesday apr 13...im from orlando fl but I serve in the military stationed in albany georgia at the moment...i will go down to fl this weekend..

holla

these might help you instead of waiting:

I just connected one of the Halos to get an idea of what they look like at night and the quality...they look alright to me...the quality is kinda suspect so the question is how long they will last (work)...
I will purchase the umnitza kit in the future..
will start working on the audio system and body work ($$$$) so, right now is not big deal for me.. I can live with these for now...

I purchased mine from http://www.symmic.com (trough EBAY)
