photochop those headlights into black housings and it will look raw as hell ! Can U get the projector out of the headlight without tearing the whole housing apart ? I have some old A6 HID lights layn around with projectors still in them... I wonder if I can rig it up somehow. I used to work as a Audi tech few years ago, and we used to repleace alot of headlights under warranty, so I had a few of them. I used the HIDs in the AE housings and the light was too strong and shot the light everywhere ! Driving through a forest I could see a mile away, even all the wildlife in the forest had its eyes flowing in the dark... took em off cause I was almost 100% positive I was going to get pulled over for em.

@ngrym@xim@: I dont forsee the gap as being a problem, i do see it as being a visual annoyance. Maybe get a piece of weather striping to put on the bottom of the housing?

2muchmax4u: It looks as if it was based of the 2k/2k1 headlamps.

00seinMA: Im definately going to retro a HID projector in there. Prolly get something from Valeo.

These are the Euro Specs from Vlaeo

Already been suggested I dont know whats going through your head George but ive already given you my honest opinion(s) about this whole thing. If the projector assembly itself can somehow be removed, that would be sweeeet. That means you could easily modify a set of HID projectors in them, that would look

As 00SEinMA just mentioned, im just worried about the beam pattern being all over the place. That would be painful for others to see, It would however be funny to get pulled over by a fellow officer

00SEinMA: Hows your "project" with hidtech going so far?

Bro, HID's are just plug & play (should be anyway ). Ive never modified a housing to fit projectors be4. I just know more of the about HID's, you know just so I can confuse people As far as getting them in, you could do just a good job as I can Id gladly lend a had if need be, you know how to get a hold of me man.

PhxBlue... funny, I have those exact projectors you pictured sitting right next to me...

Hitman... the last stage that I'm waiting for is an OEM looking shroud... I'm trying to go as OEM with this project as possible that's why I'm taking my time. I'm meeting with a metal fabricator this weekend, so as soon as I have a quality shroud, shouldn't take more than a week to do the whole thing, everything else is planned.

The color the EuroSpecs give out are just downright sick. Im over the pics every time I see them.

Hitman-

Don't worry, I'll let everyone know about it. It's way too much work for a writeup, but if you have any questions, I've learned so much about HID over the course of this research, PM me and I'll answer almost anything for ya.

That would look pretty cool to convert those headlight to HID, does anyone has an idea of which projector - bulb and ballast we could possibly use to retrofit ?

Cheers

The projectors housings appear to be based off the 00-01 lamps which are a little shorter than the 02-03 lamps, hence the gap. 5.5 genners have noticed that difference when installing 5 gen lights to replace their HIDs.

Yep there was a lil gap with the projector lamp. I think a lil black strip of weather striping of some sort can fix the prob... Hopefully, maybe...

alright. i went to sema ias today (international auto salon) and i did not find the manufacture of those headlamps. i was planning to get a hold of the manufacture so i could some how get you guys those headlamps for cheap without a group deal since i'm going into the industry. i already have my buisness license (both state and federal) so i can start selling as soon as i get the website for my company up. stay tuned, i've talked to a grip load of manufactures and vendors today. i'll make many mods more accessable to us maxima owners, from custom piston and rods to custom gauge pods, all the way over to new body kits. my company's main focus is product development. so if no one sells it, and enough people want it, i'll do what i can to make it happen.

Wicked! Can't wait to see the result!

Do you expect this to be simple swap or some hacking involved? I see you are going with regular HID (non bi-xenon). Do you think you can't fit bi-xenon?

In any case, can't wait to see the final product!

I do believe the fitment will be fairly easy. The projectors seem to be almost the same dimensions. Getting the projectors in and out is a different story. im going to open the headlights via the oven baking method, which im actually doing right now as I type. I didnt want the bi-xenons, just gonna leave the halogen high beam as is and use it.

Does it look to be a direct swap? Can't quite tell from the HID pic. If it was that would be sweet.

Who was in charge of the GD stuff? Better hit up the HID folks while you are at it. I checked the price and with lights and HID you are looking at $700 (minimum)

those look like they will be very easy to retro... it's hard to tell but valeo's look like they are a very similar size... if the valeo's are a bit smaller just buy a piece of rubber and make like a gasket to go around the shroud. Mounting them looks like it will be a sinch.
