The angel eues on these lights suck. You can see the bulb on the bottom of the angel eye .

I'd like to hear from someone who actually OWNS these...or at least read the response from the guy who's selling them.

i think the I30 version looks a whole mess cleaner. But there is nothing black high temp spray paint won't solve when it comes to these new maxima headlights. im curious about projectors and using the stock 2k and 2k1 housing so that is my next project. Here is what I thought of doing since i saw it on a prelude:

These are from an audi TT

The optics of a halogen projector is designed for a halogen bulb. If you put a D2R bulb in a halogen projector, the focal point would not line up, and you would end up with a lot of glair hurting oncomming drivers eyes, a non-even beam pattern, and a crappy cuttoff... (basically going against every reason to get a projector). Now aftermarket projectors are significantly worse than stock halogen projectors, so everything I stated above will most likely be 2X-3X worse.

That said, it wouldn't be too hard of a job to switch those projectors with a set of real D2R projectors, most likely running you about another $200 for real HID.

Whats the other differences between D2S and D2R bulbs besides the metal shielding on the D2R bulb? Can that metal shielding be taken off?

Ok. One of the guys here in Phx got the lights in. I snapped a few pics to show to you guys. These are definately a halogen setup, but the build quality seems to be very good and they look real sweet in person. HID guys will need to do some modding on these.

i think the look pretty sweet as well. i would get them if i didnt already have the 2K2 HIDS. It still has the spot where you can place the HID Ballast on the bottom.

That looks like an H3, no? Umnitza I'm not questioning you on this one cause you def know a lot more about lighting than I do. But if it IS an H3 bulb I def would not put a D2R bulb in there! A retro with a HID projector looks easy enough to work with there though...

What type of bulb is used in the projector...looks to be H3. How in the world could that be? And if that is the case, ahhh don't put a D2R/S bulb anywhere near that hole. Anyhow best case they are H7, thats because H7 and D2S are nearly the same all you need to do is buy a cheap adapter and they will fit in with a perfect cut off.

H3 55 1450 ECE. Transverse filament. Fog and drive lamps.

The H3 bulb, while not all that common is likely to ge the one that is pictured there.

If you are going to do an HID retrofit, which is not a bad idea, you can look into H3C, but those are usually reserved for Fog lights.

Hmmmm....very strange.

Can't imagine the halos looking all that good however, but the light looks promising overall.

But I believe the way that H3 bulb is mounted the filalment is vertical, so theoretically the optics of the projector are designed to bounce the light from that source. A D2R bulb has a horizontal arc, not vertical. From everything I've ever read on HID fitment, don't put an hid bulb in an H3 socket, optics are completely different.

I know a civic that has cheep aftermarket projectors with ghetto dim halo's and H3's go into the projectors. I honestly don't think I've ever seen a more horrible beam pattern.

What kind of bulbs do you use if you have a 2000 Max. Is that an H3??

I guess what I am asking is the same bulb that I use with my headlights now are the same that you use with these?
