Can Navi be installed?

Is it possible and/or worth it to install navi on a max that didn't come equipped with it? Does anyone know how much one can get on for?

If you're looking for Nissan Navi....its possible but it will cost you so much $$ , it will make your head spin. You best option is to get an aftermarket setup, Like Alpine, Pioneer, and others make. Nissan Navi has too many parts integrated into the car, that its not just as easy as buying a Navi unit.

i just found out from my stereo guy that eclipse has a new headunit coming out soon, summer time approx... its a double din headunit, it has a 6.5 widescreen monitor, (not flipout, but fixed monitor) when the screeen flips down u get access to a cd player, dvd player, memory stick, smartcard, and some other kinds of digital media... to top it off it has a 20 gb hard drive built in and a cool "tivo" feature for recording am/fm/xm content... this would be your best bet for that extreme slick oem look... price range is from 2000-3000 depending if you get the navi unit or not... i told him ill buy the first one =)

ill post pics/info once it comes available.

2-3 gs. wow, that's a lot.
I say go for in-car computer (actually, something I'm working on right now). Cool features: you get to install hardware you want
DVD playback, mp3, divx, navi, obd-2 reading - anything a computer can do. You're also better off installing a 7" VGA touchscreen (Lilliput, Xenarc)
There's a great website (forums) for these things: www.mp3car.com A lot of info
Best part is the price. You can get an good computer for around $500-600, plus around $350 for the touchscreen and you're ready to roll. In-dash touchscreen is $530 but hey, it's worth it(www.digitalww.com). GPS is about $100 (Earthmate - $120 at BestBuy).

try this

Try the harman kardon traffic pro. I bought the unit 5 months ago and have been very happy with it. Cd-ROM based and fit very nicely where previous HU was. Hope this helps,
Best Regards,
Jay

Nevermind, I thought it was an actual navigation with a screen/map, instead of just directions.

If driving directions are the main reason for you wanting navi besides it just being a cool gadget, you should look into just buying a software prog. for navigation + a gps "mouse" (total for ~$150) -- it's an effective & cost effective solution if all you care more about directions/mapping than having an OEM navi look. Check out gpspassion.com for forums w/more info.

I have Routis 2004 (for laptop) which I got for $70 and a GPS mouse for $50. Been everywhere w/it and never got lost. I'm so dependent on it now...sooo much better than mapquest

Nissan Navi, also becomes a touch screen CD player, when you remove the Navi cd. It also is a touch screen climate control.

Thanks for all of the advice. Since Nissan's Navi looks out of the question, I guess I could get an aftermarket unit, however, I wouldn't want to lose my Nakamichi CD700 head unit. It is a $1,700 unit. Maybe I could relocate the Nak to the lower din slot and install a flip up monitor on top connected to some sort of navi unit in the trunk.
