How much oil does your VQ35 use?

My car uses about 1L/8k km (about 1 quart/5k mi) running on 5w30 Mobil 1. Wondering what other people are experiencing?

No noticible loss between changes. Religiously change every 3k with Durablend.

I noticed that you are using Mobil 1---how much break in time did you allow for before you switched to full synthetic?

I allow at least 5k miles before going synthetic.

Unless you happen to analyze the oil after you remove it from then engine, how can you say that the viscosity is the same as when you put it in?

5k mi break in before going to synthetic. Car runs great, very strong and no oily build up on the tailpipes. Must just be a quirk with this engine. Consumption has remained constant since day 1 and there is 35k mi on it now. If I take it to Nissan they will say that it is well within specification, not even worth my effort.

VQ-30DE-K, 45k miles, use Mobil 1 5w30 or Castrol Syntec since 6k miles (total of 6k of dino juice before the switch) and it does not use a noticable amount between 5k oil changes.

Mine eats it....every time I ck it I need some. I may have the dealer do some kind of consumtion test. Never had a car use so much. I would guess 1.5 qts in 3k miles.

How much oil you put in the car?
What filter do you use?
How many miles on the car?
You drive it like you stole it?

On my VQ30 (not the question, I know), around 1 quart 5w-30 mobil 1 every 4-5k miles. However, recently I noticed a small leak around I think the oil sending unit. I am going to have it checked out when I bring the thing in for damn rattling tomorow. Ohterwise the car never drips oil or burns it from what I can tell.

No noticeble consumption. Mobil 10w30 with K&N Oil Filter. 4-5k between changes . Don't drive it to aggresively. To much traffic for that.

Almost none between changes averaging 4k-6k miles. I've had about 5 vehicles with the VQ35 or VQ30 engine and same with all of them. Quite unusual for this engine to use so much oil regardless of what the dealer says. Perhaps you have some carbon build-up that has either resticted the EGR system, PCV valve or made the ring pack unflexible alowing more blow-by. Any of these would increase oil consumption materially. Would suggest replacing the pcv valve, inspecting the EGR system and running a good carbon cleaner like Techron, Neutra #131 or BG44 through the fuel system. Can't hurt even if this doesn't solve your problem.

Well......25k miles
usually synthetic various brands
usually fram filter. (yeah yeah)
and 3/4 of the miles are wife driven easy ones
I drive it hard, it does not smoke any, I think the one mis-shift from 3rd to 2nd (wanted 4th) took its toll. Saw like 8000 rpm's that night. Who knows.
