Auto Tranny Shift Problems

In reading all these messeges posted people are making me nervous above my auto 2k max. My 1st to 2nd shifts seem to be a little slow, but the shifts occur at redline, and all the other gear shifts are solid. Is this the problem everybody refers to in the TSB's, or is this a characteristics of the tranny. Should I take my car into a dealer with the TSB and have them do the work anyway?

If you don't get the TSB done is this bad for the tranny, because I have had this problem for over a year now and just lived with it. But I found when I added the y-pipe that the delay isn't as long.

Take a copy of the TSB with you. My experience is, most Nissan dealers are clueless to TSBs. I have an 02 and it can't seem to shift correctly period, good luck on the fix. Chris

i posted a thread about this also a week or so ago. mine happens on the 2nd to 3rd shift. i'd call it REALLY slow rather than just "slow" as you described yours. mine is more like a 2 or 3 second hang up or delay as it is making the shift out of 2nd and into 3rd.

i couldn't get anyone to tell me if it would be harmful NOT to have it fixed.

OR, if anyone had any idea what the cost to have it fixed would be at a dealership (out or warranty).

anyone have any ideas on those to questions? thanks in advance.

I had this TSB done and it seemed to help. Excessive slippage is harmful to the transmission. I don't know about warranty or costs. I believe that the slip from 1-2 is the TSM and the slip from 2-3 is the solenoid (I could be wrong on that). People on the .org recommended getting both TSM and Solenoid done, which I did. All automatics slip, some more than others, to get smooth shifts. My slippage seemed more than normal and the fix did make a difference (relative to the way it was before). This was my experience and I did have to coax the dealer a little.

My 2K GLE is at the dealer now getting the Hesitation fixed. It is covered under the 60,000 mile powertrain warranty and the mechanic said that it is bad for the transmission. My Max pauses when changing from 1st to 2nd and sometimes, when going uphill changing from 1st to 2nd, it jerks. They are replacing the cylenoids. It was kind of hard to duplicate the problem effectively, but the mechanic beleived me and I told him that I wouldn't be at Nissan at 6:30 am if the problem didn't exist. It took about 2 days to order the part.

Great! that's just what I needed to hear. I'm a 1000 miles away from having my warranty expire. I'm making my trip to the dealer tomorrow
