Settled on the Falken Ziex 512's...
Several reasons:
1) Seems to have a better reputation on the .org than other 225/50 r 17 (stock size) tires offered...
2) Wanted to stay stock size on a 7" rim to minimize bulges, changes in speedo reading, and wheel gap (like my H&R's where they are)...
3) $107 a tire at Discount...
4) V-speed rated (the minimum)...
5) All-season performance...
...Any body have any bad experiences with these to convince me otherwise? Haven't paid for them yet, just ordered them in...

I had a bad experience with them. Out of the 4 I bought 2 had a pretty severe radial pull problem. Discount tire doesn't do alignment, so that's what they blamed it on. The alignment place said it was the tires. Fun stuff.
Discount tire have since replaced one tire. When I get them rotated I suspect the other bad one will need replaced (I'm asking for a pair if that happens). Other than that I think they are just fine.
I'm guessing that falken has somewhat lower standards for tire uniformity than companies like continental and michelin.
Good luck

Discount Tire said they could only get stock in the Falkens and the Goodyear RS-As. The Goodyears were $200 more per set than the Falkens, and the Goodyears have been roundly and constantly trashed on this forum.
I found one other place in town that had Cooper Lifeliners in the stock Max size, and they are priced similar to the Falkens. Anyone want to weigh in on what's better?

Falkens Ziex 512's
Had these on my car as the first set after those potenzas and I thought for the price these tires performed great under dry and very wet conditions. The only problem was the wear factor. I had to replace these after 20K on my 18x8's with proper rotation and tire inflation. %60 highway and %40 city or local. For the price not bad however I thought that they would have lasted longer. I'm looking now for another set. Looking at Hankooks for around the same price range.

i just bought the falken azenis st115 and love them. they are quiet, sticky, corner well. i had the ziex 502s previously and they were loud as hell, not too good in the snow, and the warped on me. i sure they improved them but the st115 might be a better choice

Ilike the Falken line. I have 215/40/17 512's on my Mazda 626 and they're great. I also have 451's on my 96 Impala SS 255/40/17 and they make the big car handle great as well. I found the best price with shippin (for me, becasue I'm close to the warehouse) at www.vulcantire.com
