My 2k2 6 speed doesn't shift smoothly. Unless I shifting slowly, and have the clutch on the floor, it 'gets hung up' during shifting (like there is a shift gate and it's getting caught on a corner). I've been driving sticks all my life and the Max is by far one of the worst I've been in. Those of you that switched to Redline MTF - did it help?

Excuse my language but..... F.UCK YEAH. Night and day. Nissan should get shot for not offering that stock. I'd pay $50 extra on sticker for this feel. It took a week for it to get really loose though and feel wonderful. Do it now.

No difference here... Shifting feels still notchy as usual. Now car is about 4000miles(7000kms), my gears are rubbing when I shift to 2nd or 3rd mostly.

Crappy tranny...

I JUST got my Redline MT-90 and my mechanic friend is going to replace the fluid for me this weekend. I'll let you know if there really is a difference. I can't tell if sometimes the stick is notchy or am I just tired that day and more irritable!? Is it just me? Some days I love driving my max and other days I swear the shifting is notchy and accelleration seems to suck. I'll let you know next week about the fluid change.

I think it definetely helped. Also seemed to get better over time.

I agree 100% with you on this. I used to drive a delivery truck that shifted a lot smoother tha this car does.

I useed AMSOIL 2000 in my 2k2 6 speed and Redline MT90 in my 2k3..

For the 2k3 i did it myself... and as always, the first few thousand kilometers, the 6 speed feels SMOOTH AS BUTTER like my 2k2 and my 2k3..

But then after wards it goes back to being GAY again..

Considering how easy it was to do the fluid change i think i am going do do my tranny flush and fill with REDLINE MT90 every 15,000 KMS.. or every 4th oil change.

I did mine about 5K miles ago and noticed it was better but not perfect.

I agree, its not perfect, but much better for mine. I almost never get that notchy grinding that I used to get on 2nd and 3rd.

I've had mine in there for 2-3k miles now (2k 5-speed w/ 32k miles, 26k from previous owner), I put Redline in there and barely noticed a difference... in fact now I sometimes have a problem going from 5th to 4th (gets hung up, though returning to neutral and trying again usually goes through)
I need to re-check the fluid level to make sure it's correct... I put 4.5 qts (I believe) in after draining out of the reverse switch

I just put in Redline. I noticed an immediate difference. Although the mechanics of the shifter continue to make it notchy, the redline does help out quite a bit. Some claim snake oil and I am usually very pessimistic about new mods, but this is a definite must buy.
