a warning for everyone
i feel like i am the guy that just always seems to find the wrong people to deal with on the web...i want to warn you all about using any escrow service online...do your homework and then do some more. there are only a couple legit ones! i almost got hosed for $125k! i was trying to buy a 328ci, and the guy recommened using an escrow service(safer-bay.com) i checked the site, and checked all the links, and not knowing exactly what i was looking for did not realize it was a fraudulent escrow service. to register for the transfer of $ for the bimmer, you have to give them an acct number that they "track" the transfer with. well, that acct had 125k in it and thank GOD i got an email from another ebayer that warned me and made me look a bit harder. i found this site...www.carbuyingtips.com
the guy that compiled all the info actually shut the site down within a couple hrs of me notifying him about my situation. the site was very helpful and saved me a butt load of money. i know this is off topic, but i wanted to put it where everyone could see it...i hope that this experience can help one of you in the future.

Is it just me or does anyone else have a problem shelling any significant amount of $ online. Noone can ever convince me of the logic of sending someone, somewhere, some service anywhere any kind of $$ and wait for the product to be delivered. I limit my losses on Ebay at $100. If I am buying anythin over $100 I better know where to find you and you better be local. If not, you better believe I'rather pay full retail for my peace of mind.

the money was transfered from another acct because we were supposed to close on our house on the 1st, leaving only 12k still in there, but the seller had a lein that had to be taken care of so the 113k didn't come out yet. if it weren't for that, i would have been "ok". we had to close the acct and stop a wire transfer for 10k that would have gone out this am! just hope that we dont hear anymore from these guys in the form of identity theft! that is where i am really concerned. as far as checking the seller...his info checked out, and the info on the car was all legit too. i had bmw run an history report on the vin and it matched what was told to me, and the carfax said the same thing. i had addresses and contact numbers, even checked the address to make sure it existed by using a anywho.com. it all seemed legit like i said, just lucky to have found out before the $ was wired!

Re: Re: Re: a warning for everyone
what ever he did at motorola, if he did it half as good as he does helpin people out with stuff like this, they lost a great employee. i know he is running like 6 sites like the carbuyingtips.com but for other things like wedding tips and baby tips...he also has a new daughter that has some health issues that really take up a lot of his time, so that may be the reason behind him leavin?
