lawn sprinker hard water...how to remove?

So the passenger side of my car has been bombarded repeatedly by lawn sprinklers and left quite a bit of spots on the side and glass.

Problem is, I've tried vinegar, c.l.r., cleaner wax, and nothing has fazed them. Has anyone SUCCESSFULLY used a store-brought product that removed TOUGH water stains?

Should I just get it detailed by a pro with the "right stuff"?

Thanks,
ARFF

i had the same problem at my condo at the beach. i used joy to remove the old wax, then i washed it, then the clay bar then topped it off with zymol wax. that got rid of the majority of them for me.

If washing and vinegar fail, then you might want to try applying the clay bar to the areas where the spots are....Then follow up with detail spray and some quik wax(spray on wax) or carnuba...

Alternatively, strip wax off, clay areas, paint cleaner, polish and wax....Layering on the wax will prevent future spots...

My friend had the same prob with his truck. I used a polishing pad with zymol polish then used wax pad with Meguires mirror glaze wax using the buffer for both steps. Looked like new

I had the same problem last week. Ended up using Meguires scratch remover, applied using a polisher. It took it right off. Just went over the spot with a coat of wax and it did the trick.

Hope this helps.

I forgot to mention I did try the clay bar. I used the mother's kit in its entirety to no avail.

I bought some Meguiar's scratch-x yesterday and will try that. These things are ON THERE man. Sounds like I need a buffer...may just go to a detailer.

Thanks guys,
ARFF

Seriously go buy a polisher with the kind of money you will be putting down to get it detailed. Porter cable would be the way to go. You can even get attachments for just about anything from a brush for carpets and various other items to sanding discs and polishing of course. I have used mine on my car and it worked wonders. I also use it with a brush attachment on carpet and on outdoor furniture to clean it up. That thing is just awesome.

you may have etching in the clear coat.

Try a random orbit polisher with a light abrasive, if they are deep you may only be able to reduce and conceal them.

Yup, tried clay bar as well. Scratch remover was the only thing that seems to have worked.

Try getting some powdered water softener (laundry section of grocery store), dilute it and blot the diluted solution with a rag on the stain. This might work.

For the windows, I've stated this on the general forum before.. Get a VERY fine steel wool I believe it's #0000. Use glass cleaner or a soap spray as the lubricant for the windows and work in any desired direction (circular) worked best for me... Don't knock it until you try it... This will NOT leave any scratches on your window.
Try it in a small location if you don't believe me.
W/ my 96 max, I had the WORST spots from previous owning and being in CO where they have harder water. I had a foglike effect when driving at night w/ people behind me. After doing the above, my window was squeeky clean w/ NO spots.
Goodluck.
As far as paint,
That one I'm not sure about... Paint is delicate.

you guys can also try those whole house water softening systems to stop any more from forming...this also helps with taking showers, drinking water, etc...

This is my only compliment about NYC...best damn water in the US!
