Installed my tranny cooler... Love my wife's tiny hands...

Yeah that's right my badazz wife sat out in the Dallas sun for 2 hours with me and helped me get that B&M #264 tranny cooler on the car in just the right spot, her tiny hands were a major asset. My hands on the other hand (no pun intended) look like they were run through a cheese-grater. But it was worth it. Got the tranny cooler on in time for the hot summer months, rotated and torqued my wheels, torqued my RSB, and went and got it cleaned up and went for a spin. Even on a warm night I could tell the cooler does its job, shifts were smoother then ever, even when I pushed it, I could tell it was getting some cooling done on the ATF.

Anyone considering it, (especially if you have hot summers) best $50 you can spend and it only takes 1.5 - 2 hours, depending on how picky you get on where you mount it and a second person helps. I wound up taking both passenger and driver side undercarraige guards off and mounted it on passenger side in front of condenser and radiator because it had the best air flow without having to kink up the cooler lines back to the tranny. Some extra ATF and zip ties don't hurt either. Peace.

...The write-up I used was from a '99 and a different brand of cooler, but it still worked. Here is the link:

Tranny Cooler Install

Not mechanically difficult but like I said a second pair of (tiny) hands will make a big difference. Get the B&M cooler for 24,000 GVW (gross vehicle weight) at jegs.com because it has the greatest cooling capacity with no fitment issues. Only $50, good luck...

I installed that on my 2k1 GLE, works great and what a fun afternoon project. A smaller set of hands would have helped a lot!

Man, your wife is definitely dedicated. I assume you thanked her after that?

Nothing like having a female help while tuning your car.

It cools the fluid which in turn cools the tranny.

I'm going to be putting one in my car soon. I have to box sitting in my garage but haven't gotten to it yet. Hopefully this week. I am also installing a tranny temp gauge since I'll have the tranny lines seperated.

Is this a good budget mod for the tranny if you don't want to do the VB mod???
