Usually until the hazeiness (sp?) disappears. I would wait about 3 - 5 days of sun just to be on the safe side. The colder it is, the longer it takes to dry.

However, I did hear of some people who said that they could roll the windows down right away

the tint shop near me always says 24 hours. but when i got my new car tinted last year i accidentally rolled the window down like 4 hours after the job and it was fine.

to be safe some say 24, some say 48. it shouldnt be any longer than 2 days at the most.

I got mine done and it didn't get over 30 degrees for the next week... so I waited the week, but I just wanted to be safe (and not too much reason to put down the windows when it's 30 degrees)

put on the window locks for a week...be safe...but if you really have the urge to roll down the window (drive-through----atm) wait about 5 days....

oh yeah, stay away from McDonalds, it'll make you a fat slob like me...

If you want you can also use a heat gun on the lowest setting and gently fan the window for 5-10 min per window about 6 inches away. If you do that about 5-6 times the first day and let it chill over night you should be good, just don't over-do it for another day on rolling your windows alot.

I have a friend that is a window tinter that does all my cars. Needless to say, there have been more than one discussions on this one with him.

Dry time varies with manufacturer of tint and climate. Full metallic films take longer to dry than plain smoke. The more metallic, the longer the dry time. Within a 24 hour period of being tinted, SOME films my be dry enough to handle the roll down, but they will not be completely dry. I personally wait till ALL the bubbles are gone with my cars to be safe. My Max dried up pretty quick with Formula 1 HP Smoke (half smoke, half metallic film.) My truck took 2 full months to dry with full Metallic film though! And that is in Texas when it was in the 90s most of the day! Every film varies. I say 5 days minimum to be safe, and leave it in the sun as much as possible to accelerate the drying. Tinters hate to redo glass and they usually charge for it. Why take the chance? It's only a couple of days more. Also, it's bad for wet film to freeze, so try to avoid that if at all possible (for all your Northerners!)

i was told 3-5 days. just to be on the safe side, just keep them rolled up for the first 3 days at least. if it's colder, you might wanna keep them up for a bit longer.

What % tint did you get done with the metallic stuff??? I'm going in next week and am afraid %35 may not be dark enough on the sides.. But the next darker is 18% hmmm.... 5% on rear for sure...

I have black leather interior as well!

I always get my cars at 20% all the way around. It's not legal here (on the sides), but it's nice to have a friend that's a state inspector.

I stick with 20% becuase to look at it seems *questionable* at the worst from the outside looking in, it gives you almost enough privacy, and you can still see out of it at night. 5% is hard to see out of at night when backing up, but you can always use your side mirrors I'd say go with the 18% if you feel you can get away with it in your state. Won't be much difference in darkness (unless you're comparing different brands) and it's just enough difference to keep the guy next to you from seeing you pick your nose. Full metal is more reflective-looking from the outside, so a lighter film (% wise) is harder to see through from the outside than a smoke film.

Another tidbit: Full metal film should never fade. Any dyed film will fade eventually depending on how much dye is used versus metal. The cheaper the film, the quicker the fade. No, purple film is not cool.

I got 35 on the back and 50 on the front, even though it's illegal. I wanted to get 35 all around but I would definetly get caught. It looks really nice though. My friends at work all liked it.

The tint was called something Chrome...I forget. I got full metallic for the ugly purple reason. I want to make sure that my tint doesn't end up purple.

The only thing I regret is not getting the sunroof window tinted...I totally forgot about it until I was driving back home...damn. Is it safe to open the sunroof window if it gets too hot inside?

Antenna in rear window

Not to take over the tread or anything, but doesn't the metallic tint
interfere with your radio reception since the antenna's in the window.
I talked to a tint installer and he said it was mainly the AM freqs. that were problematic. Anyway to fix that problem without using a dye film?
