I just left my dealer, I’m going to trade in my 2K Black, SE auto for a 2001 White AE/SE 5 speed, heated seats and all. I couldn't stand another day with the automatic; I have driven manuals all my life, and must have experianced a brain seizure when I bought the auto. Can’t wait, the car is being transferred from another dealer. Ditching the Black is going to be a huge burden off my back also. Well I dodged replacing those worn tires to boot.

What did it cost to trade to a 2001 after one year?

Just curious: did they give you a good price for your 2k Max?

Congrats on your new Max...and also for finding one with the Meridian package. My dealer said they couldn't find one...makes me wonder if they tried hard enough. Anyhow...my pet peeve as probably everyone on this site knows by now is the tires...is yours coming with the Potenzas and do you like the ride your getting?

Yes, please share that information... I'm sure many of us want to know what our cars are worth for a trade-in.

My Max was purchased last March for $22,450. 2000 SE w/convenience package and 16" rims. It now has 21,405 miles, excellent condition. The AE has the Bose (I could live without) Meridian package, sunroof w/deflector Charcoal leather interior. The AE is $26,900 and they gave me $18,600 for mine. As far as an AE w/Meridian; Sullivan Brothers Nissan/Ford has one, located in Massachusetts. I test drove it Sunday, its identical to the one I'm getting. The other dealer quoted me 19K on trade, but wanted 32K for the AE.

Are you gonna kick it at yourself when the 2002 new max comes out with 260hp and possibly 6spd??????

That seems about right

When I was debating whether to trade my auto in on a stick I was quoted around 18k for my trade...I paid 21947 for my SE but with no C&C package...I also have a lot less miles that you...I think it was 4k at the time. I wasnt looking at an AE but a loaded SE stick.

I couldnt do it....I could have but it would have been financial suicide...like my trade 6 months ago would have been like I never even owned it.

In the end you did what I want to do but am chicken too

Enjoy the wheels...

Congrats on the AE!!

I think you'll like your new ride!

BTW, SRMTN:
I finally broke 70 today and I did notice the steering wheel jumping a bit on me. But it's hardly noticable until you break 65. Which I rarely do with the roads I travel. I think it is the tires. I have 15 days to return it to the dealer for a balance I think I'll schedule an appt. next week. Unfortunately, due to my trip I won't be able to drive my maxima the whole weekend.

Well she's in the driveway, picked it up today. The service department was all-aflutter as I was swapping my Stillen air intake, PIAA Plasma’s and remote radar to the SE/AE. So far I'm very impressed with the car, the five speed being the top point but the heated seat, no the dimming mirror, no the glass sunroof, hell the Bose really doesn't sound that bad. The handling on the(17” rims)is so much more stable, and less busy when tossing it into corners. Bad points, what's up with the tail pipe? Wow; it looks like it came off a Dodge Neon.

Max_AE...thanks for the update on your ride; Man, I don't see how you can stand not going more than 70 MPH. I have trouble staying below 80! I just know this car is going to be the one that gets me a ticket!!!
Back to the tires..in my Max, I've had the tires balanced twice now, the last time, at NTB, seems to have been more effective than whatever the dealer claimed to have done. Even still, the vibe is still there and most detectable in my care b/w 65 & 75. I pushed it to 100 the other night, and another thing that kind of concerns me about the car is a sense of shake when I accelerate hard and I'm already at high speed (like 80 to 90+). I don't know...am I just expecting too much out of the Max? I mean, it's no Ferarri, but heck...it's no small payment, either!

Keep me posted on your tire situation. I'm trying to get my dealer to take 'em back and let me swap for a tire of my choice...we'll see how quick they respond...I'm still waiting...into the 2nd day now.

Wow; a new Max and I am now a Newbie instead of the dreaded Lurker. As far as the tires, the last place you want to balance your tires is the dealer, seek out a specialty shop (Tire Town, ect) and spend the twenty bucks. Also read your warranty, Nissan has no responsibility for the tires and doesn't stock them, the tire dealer has replacement jurisdiction over them, and will usually help you out. A common catch-all is radial pull and cannot be diagnosed without remounting the tire and testing. How about the brake rotors, are they ok, Good luck.
