Missing dirt shield on gas filler tube "AGAIN"

Ok, lets revisit a problem (omission rather) that existed when I had my 01/AE, this weekend I had the car on a lift to paint the brake calipers and guess what is missing on my new 03/SE? The fuel filler shield in the wheel well, WTF is this thing an option? Will call Monday and have them order a new one, should be easy this time just order the same piece with the hardware they got for the last one, anyone else?

in the northern states, the shield was found to trap moisture and salt, causing more problems than it prevented (so they said). Supposedly, it was only going to be left off northern cars, but I think no cars have it now.

I got this on my car just a few months ago, and I noticed that all the sludge that used to build up in my fuel door is gone...I think that's a good thing. As for it trapping in stuff, I can't say. Lovely way to design stuff, Nissan.
