New Project: KBD Carbon Fiber Hood

i just dropped off my hood yesterday at a fabrication shop called KBD in Brea, CA.
it's not a publically well known company like VIS, but they do alot of work for SEMA show cars(including polyurethane bodykits) and APC(the orange Tiburon's hood was made by this shop).
as far as the quality of the hoods, it is second to none. i saw many cf hoods there at the shop(including one for Porsche Boxster, it was amazingly clean. no spots, no streaks, just clean and perfect.
this project will take about 2 1/2 weeks(so we're looking at the completion day around first week of December) to fabricate the carbon fiber hood.

once my hood is complete, i'll be taking orders for the hood. pricing hasn't been determined yet, but it'll be in the range of the VIS hoods.

since i won't have the pictures of our hood for next few weeks, i'll just take some pictures of other hoods made by KBD and post it up here.

Would I be able to get a blue/black carbon hood.

they will be able to offer Carbon Kevlar hoods with color for about $120 more. i don't know if they'll be able to produce color carbon fiber hoods. but i'll ask!

like i said, my hood just got dropped off yesterday and everything is still in the drawing board.

How much did yours go for? including shipping? How long does it take to put a new hood on and to get it lined up, etc?

IF this happens YOU SHOULD HAVE THEM MAKE a 1.5"-2.5" cowl induction hood.

I don't think the OEM style is really worth the $$$$, since I would have to paint it and the invader looks a little to agressive. However, a mild/medium cowl would be schweeeeeeeet!

Are you gonna tell them to design any variations on it or is it gonna be a plain one like what Kev has? When I say variations I mean like the invader or crusader style (or whatever its called) or let them put a scoop in it or something? It would be cool to have choices.

so far, it's just the regular OEM style hoods..i'm not a big fan of 'invader' style hoods..now that's a little to much..but something like a WRX style scoop could be cool...i haven't asked the shop yet about this. i'm actually going to go up there today, and i'll ask what else can be done with this project.

What about with a black maxima, since mine is black, I'd be interested to see what a CFH would look like on it. I'm still interetsed, keep us posted on the price!

I wouldn't drive the car past 80 on a windy day without my pins.. The hood even with moving that hood latch all the way up, the cfh hood barely catches the latch to close. The hood pojns def. add a piece of mind that it's not gonna pop up on you..
