Chevron Techron Cleaner any good?
Hello guys! I know some of you guys have used Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner. Is it any good compare to other brands? Please share your experience if you used it before. Forgive me if this question appears many times before. Thanks!

I had a new car with pinging problem even on octane 91 gas. The dealer found carbon on piston tops (yes, with a tiny camera mounted on a goose neck). They cleaned the carbon off with Techron in the tank and drove it at high RPM for 30 miles. So yes I'll say it is pretty good stuff.
I have an old Suburban mostly parked today (due to $3+ gas). I put Techron in once in a while. It has a 44 gallon tank so it takes two bottles per tank full.

Isn't the techron supposed to be added already to to the gas at Chevron gas stations?
I usually try to fill up at Chevron stations for this reason.
Or maybe it's just not very concentrated like if you put in a bottle into your tank with a fill up? so maybe the techron from the pump is just for maintenance and not cleaning?

I do this just before each oil change and change oil at 10K miles (I was changing at 7.5K miles before my powertrain warranty ran out at 60K miles).
Check out my added discussion on this topic on this site (my name is the same on both sites):

It won't really do anything noticeable unless your engine has a significant problem with deposits.
That said, it's definitely the best stuff you can get off-the-shelf (except maybe Redline SI-1/SI-2).

I have had GREAT success using BG44K in my van that had an AWFUL issue w/ running right and tripped an injector code twice. Felt like it was running on 4 cylinders instead of 6. Anyway, I was not looking to put a lot into it and tried the stuff at $20 and it cleared it right up. This was after, by the way, I tried the STP at no success. I am sure it was strong for the system, but I figure once should be ok, and the prob has not returned. I will put in the Chevron here pretty soon to try to keep whatever was the culprit under control.

AMSOIL has reformulated their "P.I." fuel additive and it's supposed to be very effective at cleaning injectors, reducing intake valve deposits, reducing carbon build-up, reducing emissions, etc. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/api.aspx
I've tried it and it seems to work well. Recently sold some to a customer who was having driveability problems on his BMW and he claims the fuel additive made a big improvement...came back and bought some more for his Lexus. At $6.85/bottle, my cost, I'm guessing it's more than Techron, but less than BG-44.
