questions for those who installed their own stillen body kit...
I just got my body kit and it's in the shop getting painted as we speak. My question is on mounting the front lip. I'm concidering different ways of doing this. A friend of mine works for a body shop and he is going to help me mount the kit to save me $ in labor. Could you tell me your stories on how you mounted the front lip. Where did you rivet, double-sided tape, screwed??? alos, any problems with it getting loose due to the air force?

Double sided tape is good but it's a pain to remove when you take the lip off for a repaint. I use screws on the wheel well part and use those black metal binder clips to hold lip to the bottom of the bumper.

I don't even want to hear any of you '97/'99 people complaining about the installation of a front lip. You guys have it made! I did a front end conversion just so I can buy a '97 Stillen lip. Just try installing a '96 lip and not having a huge seem.

I just got the Stillen aero kit. Haven't installed the front lip yet, but we put it on just to see what it will look like and it looks like you will be able to see the back edge of the lip. You know, where the lip goes up into the bottom opening and between the vertical pieces and on around and into the fog lite area, you see the entire edge. What do you guys do about that? I have a pearl white '95 with a '97 front end. I'm not real crazy about being able to see the edge. Is there anything I can do?

I just got my front lip and the double sided tape stillen provides sucks. that damn thing doesn't stay on for anything I had to go and get the 3M double sided tape but I'm still not sure where exactly to put the tape and screws. I got screw, rivets, and nuts with bolts and the washers with the front lip. Is there even a write up on installin' the front lip for a 3rd gen.

i just reinstalled my front lip yesterday (along with full kit) it took me 3-4 hours. front lip: just put one screw in on each side by the wheelwell and two small pieces of tape on each side. the middle fits so snug that i dont worry about it at all
THE REAR is the part that i dont get. how do you get it to stick without a big gap on the corners? argh

This is funny. I was the one who origally asked the questions and now I'm giving answers! hehe
RR95SE, As far as I can see....I cannot see that edge. It kind of gets shadowed out. Looks good, don't worry.
GRNMAXDMON, You're right! the tape that comes with the kit sucks. Don't use it, or you'll be reinstalling your kit like I need to. Sad to say, I don't know much bout mounting a 3rd gen kit, though. I can say that i did not use any of the included rivits, bolts, and screws.
sil SE, the corners can be tricky. This is what I did....I got under the car with a screw driver and a couple drywall screws(don't laugh cause it worked). If you try this, be very careful. I screwed through the inside of the bumper cover out into the rear lip. If you look underneath, you should see what i mean. There is a part of the lip that sits against the bottom of the bumper. It is a tight fit, but I was able to get two screws into each lip. Now they look tight! If you are interested, I could probably take a pic for you.

hey erty, i did mine yesterday so yeah i know what you mean. actually what i did was, use the screw that goes into the underside that is used Stock for the mudguards. that is screw number 1. then theres tape of course but that didnt fare too well so what i needed was something to hold up the end thats by the muffler tip. (only this side of the rear valance was ****ing me off because it was a little bent in its shape) so finally i jus put a drywall screw thru the end part that tucks in and into the muffler cut out thats on the bumper. its kinda ghetto but whatever. i found it extremely hard to fit the screws into the bottom where you probably did it. and yea a pic would be good!
the part i found REAL hard is making the gap non-existent at the top of the rear pieces...suggestions???
sorry this was long

I did the same and put a screw in the tailpipe cutout, but that wasn't enough. I needed extra support on the driver's side piece. I'll try to get a pic for ya over the next couple days.

OK...I did my best, but not the best pics. i had to use a polaroid and scan them. I tried a pic from the top, but it didn't come out to clear so you can't tell. Sorry. BTW...both of these pics are of the driver's side molding.

I also had a hard time figuring out how to do this. I didn't get a drill up there, but I was able to maneuver a small screwdriver in there. Using drywall screws, I was able to self tap them into the moldings. I do notice a very small gap on the corner. Putting the screws in helped pull it tight, but I do see a small gap in some places.
