guys with NOS

ok so i finally got my NOS kit had it for a while. just had a few questions. i want to get a fuel pressure gauge but the auto meter one say in the catalog that i have to mount them outside of the cabin.

yes i did a search or fuel pressure gauge and got nothing useful.

i was just wondering what gauge some of you guys used and what the company/model #.

ok now i am pushing 90k on my car and started using syntetic oil.
sould i worry about replacing my gaskets, and fuel injectors?????

and while i at it what kind of tranny oil would be the best.

i am gonna start at a 50 shot just to get use to things. but a 75 shot is what i want to end up with. and when i go out to the track i want to be at 100 shot.

any good suggestions would be aprreciated.
thanks

You can't use a MECHANICAL fuel gauge inside the cabin, because you have to run a fuel line up to it. If you spring a leak, you could set the interior of your car [and yourself] ablaze.

Use an electrical gauge, like Autometer's #4363. The fuel line goes to a sensor block outside the cabin, and a thin electric wire conducts the signal to your gauge inside the cabin. I bought my 4363 from Summit Racing for $190. Good luck.

If you want to go cheap on the fuel pressure gauge you can use a mechanical one and put a 2' hose on it and run it out the hood under the windshield wiper, it will hold there quite nicely. I only do this at the track the rest of the time I have it under the hood.

I didn't. I did put in a fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, trans cooler, two step colder plugs and regular maint stuff but all else is the same.

That was a 100 shot, haven't tried anything larger on the track. Just tried the 125 on a quiet road and at 50 mph in second gear with the throttle to the floor I hit the Nitrous button and the wheels broke loose so its pretty crazy. There is a large difference between 100 NOS and 100 NX too you can really feel it and it dropped .5 from my ET.

Guys what is the legality of having nitrous in a caron the street? What has to be done to be able to have it installed in a car and not get a ticket for it?

It's not illegal in Cali as long as you have the line disconnected, you can still have everything in your car.

I went 2 steps colder. I was told by the NX Tech Dept that it removes another 50 deg from head temp for each step colder and that anything 100 shot of more should be 2 steps. I am running copper 7's at .035 gap.
I am an NX believer now after 3 or 4 weeks of switching there is no comparison. Just as easy to install, no tuning involved, just put in the jets the tech dept says for your fuel pressure. As someone already reminded me its Plug & Spray vs Plug & Pray.

If you are NOS do what NOS suggests. I do what NX tells me. Some say that 2 steps is too much, I am happy with the BK7ES. It flounders a little when its cold but only for a minute or two.

I had an NX Wet kit 75shot, and got pulled over for having brite whites in my altezza TL's, so to avoid the ticket I offered to pop the bulbs out right then and there, which he let me do. Then when he saw the bottle in the trunk he started messin around sayin it looked like a bomb, but when I asked him about it being legal he said it was. im in Fort Lauderdale, Florida though it might be different in other states.

I had a kid tell me a cop stopped him and had him disconnect the hose. which seems pointless and stupid but I figured I would tell u that because some laws are pointless and stupid so it might be true

ok got another question.

if i bump the fuel pressure for the bottle with the fpr does that mean under normal driving im gonna be running rich.

or will the ecu adjust it accordingly.

thanks

I'm familiar with the function of nitrous, but not all the terminology.... can someone please summarize what is NOS vs NX, wet vs. dry, and what the XX shot means?

Thanks

Nos and NX are two different brand companies that sell nitrous systems. Wet and dry systems are just how the nitrous is delivered into the engine. I am not sure but I think the wet kit mixes fuel with nitrous while dry system just dumps the nitrous into the intake. Also xx shot just mean how much extra horsepower it gives to the engine.
