4th gen Maximas vs Si.

Last night I came to a light surrounded by two 4th gen Maximas, both automatics it seemed.

I knew they wanted to go because I saw them race each other the entire night.

So light turns green, I launch at 4k, wheelspin, hook, and proceeded to walk them hard. By the time I shifted into fourth, they were no less than 5 cars back.

I have a 2000 Civic with I/H/E.

I would like to run a five speed Maxima for fun to see what's up cuz those are a little quicker. Any of you guys are in the NYC area hit me up with an email.

wow, ur little si beat an auto 4th gen by 5 car lengths, at what speed were u at when u were 5 cars ahead, i have a bone stock autotragic 4th gen, yes it is not fast, but my friend has a stock 00 si and he is an average driver u could say, he beat me, but only by about 3/4 car length, no offense but i dont see ur Si running that fast, unless ur mods really boosted ur performance by a whole lot?

If you race 5spd with the same mods as you have, dont expect to win. I have raced my buddy's'00Si(R), hes got AEM CAI, I had a Poor man's Short Ram cone filter at the time. We went from a rolling start, I even waited to hear his intake suck in before stomping the gas. After third I just kept walking on him. Definitly a good race, but lets face it these are two different cars, and shouldn't be put in the same catagory.

SI - 15.7 (car and driver, road and track) with those mods, you should still be a low 15, depending on which intake, which headers, and which exhaust. a stock 4th gen auto is 15.7. no way you walked a 4th gen auto that was stock by 5 car lengths in 4th gear. a car length equals roughly .5-.8 seconds. either they weren't racing or they weren't racing YOU.

there are several maximas in the NY area that i'm sure would love to race you. if i was on that side of the country i would and i'm auto. check the regional forums. just be prepared to have your *** handed to you.

Ok, but I still like my chances against NA Maximas. I don't see any NA Maximas handing me my ***. I might lose, but it won't be by much. You guys down on the Si a lot. I'd like to prove to some of you that we're not all so slow.

I ran my car in the quartermile, and I'm a lot faster than 15.7, that's all I'm gonna say about that.

So any NA Maxes want to step up to the plate?

hmm i beat stock a si, with not much problem. I didnt blow him out of the water but I won. A 5speed with a cai and y pipe will eat you alive. Unless you can run faster then 14. 6 ( average )

.8 seconds is about 10 car lenghts.

I like civic SIs, I've owned 2 civics myself. However to answer your question, a civic SI with I/H/E will get walked hard by a N/A bolt on maxima. An SI with I/H/E is lucky to trap at at 91mph. A stock 5 speed 4th gen traps at 92.5-93.0 typically. With Intake, exhaust and Ypipe, the equivalent mods, a 4th gen 5spd will trap at LEAST 95 mph, mostly above 96 mph. I myself trapped 96.5 with only a Y pipe.

With similar mods, a civic SI is not going to fare well in straight line race with a 5spd 4th gen. The plethora of modifications for the SI can easily even the score though.

Where the heck is that BrianV video when you need it

racing any car that is NA isnt much of a race is it... maxima's arent fast cars and to call out an NA max is even worse.. just hope you dont find an SC'ed auto or anything, you'll be trailing by more than 5 car lengths..

im just saying it's odd to call out an NA car..

HERE WE GO AGAIN WITH MY CIVIC SI AND SO ON!!!!!!1

Once again everytime we go to the track no Hondas want a piece of us seriously for the exception of that one acura integra running a 100 shot of Nitrous who ran against Matt and he ran a 13flat, no civic can hang with that unless they have a supercharger or Nitrous. Civics SI's are heck of nice cars, but guess what drop a supercharger in it drop it put some rims and park it at your local mall for a couple of Mins, come out now you have no car, why? cause theres a bunch of weiners that own one and will steal yo **** in a minute!!! so thats the disadvantage of owning one. Nice cars but stock they wont spank no 5 speed Max, I can vouch for that I spanked my friends civic si with intake and Greddy exhaust, and yes I was naturally aspirated intake Ypipe and exhaust and set of heavy 18's to go with it.

Hey, make no mistake I love Maximas. I used to have a 3rd gen and I love the new fifth gen with 255hp and the 6 speed. I will own one some day again.

It's just that I'm tired of running Sentra SE-Rs and GSRs and other Civics and I want to run a Max. I won't like my chances against an FI Max because, well, I know I have no chance. But an NA Max I believe I can beat in the 1/4mile.

It's all about seeing where I stack up, before I add on more mods...

And as far as that Brian video, I've seen it a long time ago, and I'm not worried about it. I've killed other Sis by that much too. It ain't no biggie. Some cars just run harder than others, and it seemed that Si Brian raced was a weak one.

Come race a real Si. LOL

Are you guys really going to even think about wasting your gas on someone like this? Come on, this guy is probably a young kid who thinks his butt dyno gives his car 250hp at the wheels. Please, I have a 95 GLE auto that will spank him into next week, but I'm not going to even bother wasting my gas on him. He probably said it best by saying "He loves max's and some day he will own one". Well, until that day....like someone else on the board said....this comparo is not even in the same category....

ok what is up with civics lately.....i was at a party friday night and this kid from my school has a 00' si with CAI and altezzas anyways some BS got started and everyone at the party except my buddies were talking about how i was gonna get "owned" by the civic so i kept my mouth shut and didn't mention anything about the 15+ civics i have beaten since i got this car and we rolled out to a local straight thats about 1/2 a mile long. anyways we went after 3 honks and i beat him off the line and by the time i was half way through 4th i was 10+ cars ahead of him. we pulled over and he said he missed his 1-2 shift and asked me to go from a roll of 15mph. btw we each had a friend in our cars plus my almost full tank of gas and his quarter tank. so anyways we went and i even waited for him to get on the gas first and i pulled him by 2 cars at the end of 2nd and then 5 by the end of 3rd and we shut it down after that. needless to say everyone was giving me props and giving him **** at the party when we got back. come to missouri my friend, i'll race you in reverse.

Maybe you should post in the NE forum. Some of the guys there don't check here that often.

So, what do you run? High 14s to mid 14s? That's what the better NA 4th gen 5spd Maximas run.

As Clee so elegantly stated earlier. Don't feed the trolls.
Guy in the Corvette C5 forums was talking trash about racing a
Civic - I think the Honda's SN was TurboCivicSi. Anyhow, he played
the same coy game about listing his mods. Before you put any money
down on a race, keep in mind that he knows what he's up against but
you don't know exactly what he has. He hasn't answered any ?s about
his quarter times, FWHP and so on.

Not sayin' he's gonna win. Not sayin' he's gonna lose. Just sayin'
be careful. That C5 owner had to eat a lot of crow and dropped a
c note on the bet. OUCH!

I have seen KleeftonSI post on several forums and He seems to know his stuff. I believe his last current time was 14.6 so I can see him walk auto maxima's if the time is right. I believe his civic is a factory freak or he can really drive it good. Anyway I would be up for a friendly race, too bad you live in NYC.

That Brian v video is sick . Anyway whats the difference in specs between a regular civic and a civic si because when I was at etown there were three kids there with what looked to be stock 2001 civic 2 doors and they ran from 17.4-18.7. they were insanely slow.
