Hey all, I have a strange issue in my '97. When I power on the windshield wipers, the radio shuts off. Radio will not turn back on until the car is powered off and on again, but no fuse blows. Has blown 2 wiper motors as well. I have not blown any fuses so I am not sure what could be doing this--what could it be? What is electrically shared between the radio and windshield wipers that could cause something like this? Or is my car just haunted? Thanks!

other than using the car chassis for grounding purposes, there is nothing shared by the wipers and radio. Is there a story behind this such as "I had my buddy working on my car. He was drunk and when he finished, I had this problem."

Something is messing with the wire harnesses. Rats, humans, after market alarm systems, etc. The shorted wires, crossed wires are most likely under the dash, but cannot be guaranteed.

Thanks for the reply! No story like that, it happened randomly during winter. Haven't been driving much during pandemic, rats or mice finding their way in seems reasonable. I'll trace some wires and see if I can find something wonky.
