Smooth Running VQ30DE

Here's a video of my 98 model running after the midlife refresh.

To show how well the engine runs, I stand up a nickle coin on one of the intake manifold bolts. There is barely any movement in the coin while it runs. Two test videos are posted below.

Check it out.

And another test on the 98 model

You know you have unwittingly started the great nickel balance challenge of 2016, let the videos flow......

This afternoon I did some testing to see if the 1999 model with 125,000 miles on the engine can balance the coin. It just can't balance it like the 1998 model.

Coincidentally, I had that happen on the 99 model. I used one of these claw extension tools to retrieve it. It should be on the left side laying in the grove that faces left bank -- right where it falls through the opening or it may be hidden under the rail.

There's another A32 owner that ran a coin balance test.

There are several BMW V12 videos for the coin balance test. Here's one.

What is that intake on the A32 above.? Hi-Riser! The rest of it looks standard issue A32B'ish.

That intake is the stock Nissan intake manifold that came on many Eupropean A32s. It is more popularly known here as the MEVI. Compared to the US fixed manifold, that manifold has better top end, but sacrifices mid range ooomph. The US maxima will beat a euro maxima in the 1/4 mile, but at speeds above 100 mph, the MEVI will catch and start to walk the US Maxima.
Ultimately, the 00VI beats them all.

Notice how this is also the smallest VQ, the VQ20DE?
