Aftermarket parts?

This is my first Maxima. 1997 Maxima SE. General question about where everybody buys their aftermarket parts. If you can help me out with a few websites that would be awesome.

Hey Nick - Welcome to Maxima.org. Have you visited the section for 4th gen owners? There is wealth of information in the 4th gen forum about aftermarket vs. OEM parts with tips for finding a good deal from either supplier. Personally I think the answer to your question truly depends on the part. I've spent years researching and learning by trial and error about aftermarket parts. Is there any part in particular that you are looking to replace?

The b&m shifter or ebay knock off of the b&m are good shifters. Along with twm I believe but only have experience with the b&m. Good luck

There are a bunch of decent sites out there. Courtesyparts has OK prices, but they have a ton of diagrams that are useful if you're not entirely sure what the part name is. Rockauto is good too. Lately I've been buying most of my online parts from Amazon. They usually have great prices, and a lot of them are covered under Prime. There are a lot more sites that get mentioned, just search the forum.

But some parts should only be OEM, not aftermarket. The only way to tell is search for that particular part on the forum, and see what the consensus is.

Yeah, because they are discontinued. I believe there is a used one for sale right now in the classifieds for $75.

You should be able to cross shop some Mazda and Subaru accessories.

Back in the day I bought a ball shift **** for a Mazda Miata for my previous 98 Maxima. Threading fit perfectly. It wasn't a short shifter, but it was shorter. Looked cool, too.
