Price check on water pump?
Hey guys, i spoke to my local mechanic and was quoted 475$ for a new water pump and timing chain tensioner, labor included. Is this a decent price? From what i read im still in the ballpark but should i keep looking or would this be an expected price?

$118ish for new water pump from Nissan
$85ish for new tensioner from Nissan
$118 + $85 = $203
$203(parts) - $475(parts+labor) = $272(labor)
$272(labor) / 4(hours) = $68/hour
Assuming he uses new Nissan parts, which I would ESPECIALLY for the pump, that's a very good price.

Sweet!
The mechanic im using is literally 3 blocks from my house, and my family has been taking our cars to them pretty much forever. Theyve always treated us good so i thought the price was decent, just figured id double check.
Btw, they charge 85/hr for labor. The majority of shops around here charge 95/hr, so it would certainly seem they are doing me good here.
Thanks guys! Cant wait for my watery pimp to be leak free!
