1998 Maxima GXE 6 cylinder

When I start the car it runs for a few seconds then spits and sputters and dies. If I give it gas it acts like it only is running and 3 cylinders and quickly dies. I pulled the codes and it shows 75, 71, 41.

One I know is a Evap code. I think the 41 is the egr valve? Would this by symptoms of a bad egr? Would a blown head gasket cause this as my son did run the car hot.

Sounds like a bad MAF sensor.

If Blown head gasket, the car would still run. Just would overheat EGR and Evap would not cause the car to stop running.

Well decided to put gas in the car even though son insisted it had gas in it, fuel gauge does not work. CRanked right up and stayed running except it runs very rough and shakes at idle. Give it gas and it hesitates real bad.

I one by one disconnected the coils one at a time of course and 5 of them change when unplugged, one of them no change at all. Could one bad coil cause it to run so rough? I am going to change it and put all new plugs in to see what happens. I suspect I still have other problems

Yes, 1 bad coil is a misfire that shakes.

Well changed the coil out with a brand new one. Still no change in running. Still no change when I disconnect the new coil. Other five noticeable change when I disconnect them

then it could be the fuel injector.

I tried the old put a screw driver on top of the injector and it clicks so I am guessing it is working. All the injectors have the sound clicking noise when I do that. It looks like to change the rear injector the manifold has to be removed.

I am going to do a compression check next on that cylinder. I have great spark out of the new coil and new plug. At a loss

Compression on cylinder I am having problem with is 180 and holds steady trying to find what it should be

Don't forget to check the spark plugs too. that will also cause the car to shake violently if they are bad.

I went and replaced all 6 today
