Car was stolen, HOW?
My 95 Nissan Maxima was stolen. Granted, I turned my aftermarket alarm off but still the car was moved an entire block. No damage to the key area, no damage to hood, nothing. All that was missing was half a tank of gas and the car was full of smoke and I found a lighter in there.
How is this possible? It doesn't seem the car was hotwired either. And why this car? The car is damaged all over the place so it's not exactly a hot ride. And why was the car returned to the same block?

pretty simple... I my old 240sx you could start it with any key... the locks were so worn out that one day I actually grabbed the wrong set of key s and was still able to open it and drive it away... or someone took your vin# and had the dealer cut a key for it...

Without going into any detail on the subject.
It's so easy to take any 90s car it's not even funny.
Just get a 99 and be done with it (but even then it's a quick and easy bypass though, but not your average bonehead can figure it out).

Nissan corporate didn't actively keep track of the key codes until very late 97 cars. So on a 95, it's highly unlikely you can get a key from a dealer. You have an extremely slim chance if you went to the dealer that originally sold the car, a dealer could have kept the code on their own.

Was you absent-minded person?
Did you lock your car?
How long was your car stolen?
Did you go look for your car after noticing your car missing and you were sure it was not on the block?
Did you report to the police?
Did you tell the police if they can run a fingerprint check on the lighter?
Did you have a drink the night before your car went kazoot?
Did you remember do something like siphon your gas for a campfire event?
Do you have a teenager who may borrow your car key without asking while you were attending a houseguest? [;-)]
May you consider to submit your story to 'HangOver part IV'?
Since you have your car back without damage, so no mean of offense here
JK and hope you can have a while recalling things.

Sensitive subject, just like 5.5 gen headlights a few years back.
I can start my 95 with a screwdriver in less than 3 minutes with no damage to any components.
Once your ignition switch goes bad, you'll see.

I had my 96 stolen a while ago. The windows and doors were intact, but they trashed the ignition lock. Later someone tried to steal it again, and again no damage to the windows or door locks, but I couldn't turn the key in the ignition. I had to put in a new key cylinder. (I know someone broke in because stuff was out of the glove compartment, and neither I nor my wife took it out.)
I don't know how they did it, but you're not necessarily drunk or crazy.

If you put 2 and 2 together anyone can get into these cars. Your door locks and ignition are old and worn. If, and this is a big if, if you value your vehicle you will have an aftermarket alarm active AND another layer defense like a well hidden kill switch. Change your door locks, disconnect the trunk pop button (to safeguard subs and amps). Other than that expect one day your vehicle missing from where you last parked it. Been there, done that, kill switch ftw.

dont hold ur breath neither hooping law enforcement will bloodhound the case because their is no damage to the ignition so the most the can do is charge the perps with driving vehicle without owners consent. its only a class A or B misd. depending on ur state laws classification which the max is 9 months in jail according to the WI so basically 3 months if its their first time getting caught. do urself a favor and wire in a fuel pump cut off switch and hide the switch in a location u feel comfortable with so ur baby doesnt go mia. its the best u can do for keeping them from taking it unless u have like 10 to 20 grand into ur car then u need to put it in a place where a tow truck can come cherry pick it.
