Beat an Accord at the track, owner upset...

Beat a Honda accord last night on the track. Can anybody tell me why he had such a hard time accepting defeat? He had every excuse in the book and called bull****. Told me he wanted me to pop the hood but I didn't because I'm all stock baby. He had CAI, and slammed his car on stock struts. Why did he think he'd win?

because stock V6 > 4 banger with CAI

He probably didn't realize we had V6

Glad you did it at the track

Vtec didn't kick in yo

You should have popped your hood....

Seriously though, what year Accord? Some Accords are V6's.

He thought he would win because of Vtec. Most of the Honda owners who mod/rice their car think it's the greatest thing ever. I've just learned to accept the fact that they don't know anything about cars, and walk away. Lol.

Nice job beating him, btw. And glad it was on the track.

I guess he probably thought he would win since he drives stick and I'm auto, but I don't think that really matters when you have two extra cylinders going hard

Idk. I used to own an accord with an h22 swap and never had issues running against 4th gen max. A whole lot funner car to drive then my max but needed a bigger car so it's gone

I'm not really sure. This was my first time ever going to one of these places and he was talking so much **** saying it didn't matter if I had a v6 and that he could just "pop the clutch" and smoke me. He had my adrenaline going lol

If its a 98+ accord v6 came with dual exhaust. Regardless though. I remember the first time i came across a 4th gen at the track at that time i knew about maximas ...but really didn't know them. I had an acura legend with a jdm motor swap and cold air intake. That 4th gen killed my ***. My neighbor has a 02 accord v6. Motor quiet as hell but not as powerful as ours

Glad you beat him. Maybe he did have more than a CAI so he figured he should beat you. Lol, it's possible that he just isn't a very good driver. Nothing worse than someone who can't take defeat and accuses you of cheating. Nice move to NOT show him under hood, keep him guessing

Those guys are sad. I made a call out video on Youtube for TL and they're mad, one guy even made a thread on their forum where they actually been discussing me well over three pages. I'm well known all over the internet and Acura forums and I don't even know these guys and they continue to hate because these guys think I'm stupid for calling out a TL. Oh well the publicity is still giving me recognition. I will find one at the track and personally go back and show them the results.

Really? I used to mow down Preludes with H22 without any problems. After second gear all I saw was Honda symbol in the rear view mirror.

Lol honda is soo common and alot of people mod/rice them and they only got 4 cylinders..

But MAXIMAS!! I dont see them much on the road these days and yet theyre so much fun to drive/very nice looking cars. many people do NOT see that.. :| i dont kno why but heck its whatever, it makes us Maxima drivers so unique and proud to drive/own one.

I had Honda all my life. My first car was the 1976 CVCC Civic. My last Honda was 2000 Accord V6 Sedan. On a straight road, stock vs stock, my 00 Maxima SE 5sp stick would beat it anyday. Our low end torque is the reason we jump on them before their VTEC kicks in. On a twistie road, autocross, etc, the Accord would kill my Max for sure. I love my Max for the comfort, ammenities, power, and the fact that I can put 2 car seats in the back with still plenty room to move the driver seat back and forth is priceless.

I would have to agree, maxima turning radius is pretty poor as we all know haha.

well Honda guys think V-tec is the sh** but now days most brans have it they only use different name for it the most use one is vvti
now is no surprise that you took the accord stock F22 or F23 have 150 hp even the v6 (j30) only have 200 but has less torque that the vq30de so if you are a good driver you may take a v6 with a 4 gen & a 5gen vq30dek has something like 230 hp (227) so a 5 gen will definitely take a 98 to 02 accord

The 4th gen has a way better turning radius then my 6th gen. feels like i'm driving a big cadallic.

I've own mostly hondas also. owned 5 different accords various years. had a 5th gen with an h22 swap. was a blast to drive. but i agree with u. the accords could handle better then the max but didn't really have any power. i like the roomier size of the max and i picked up a 4th gen for my car pool.
