axle replacement, now hum.

Hello all, another post same day. my bad but here goes, just did a suspension swap , front&rear pads and rotors, and front axles (oreilly's) while doing all that i shook down the car, all is solid (i.e wheelbearings). now i come to a bewilderment, while doing the axles i lost trany fluid, comes with the territory. so i did a swap for valvoline 80w90 gl4 rated, some synthetic blend as i recall. now i have some strange vibration. as if the axles are making the noise? it couldnt be the fluid could it? (5qts ordered, used about 4.5q outta 5)

the axle numbers were 60-6144 and 60-6145 from o-o-o-o'reillys . anybody recognize these? wrong axles? they clicked in nice on the drivers and the carrier lined up perfectly. i believe i ordered the right ones, no abs, no lsd. could these be the culprit to the vibration?

rs5f50a i believe is the trans code.

comments/criticism welcome.

More likely the new rotors and pads making some noise. Wait till the machining marks are gone from the rotors before you worry too much.

but its a crazy vibration. i hear there are nightmare stories about wrong axles. and im purdy sure this vibration/hum isnt brakes. brakes are my specialty of sorts so i know nothings goin on there...i can almost feel the vibration from the trans area in my drivers seat. i called oreilly's and apparently theres a different axle the guy feels is a better fit, part number n18031.

anybody know if these specs are right?
  • Inboard Spline Count: 29
  • Outboard Spline Count: 29
  • Overall Length: 633mm

Did you pick up the correct axle that fits your car? They usually ask Auto/Manual, ABS/Non-ABS, LSD/Non-LSD... What is your specs?

lol, i didnt get one. i gave it one (love workin at a shop). except for camber bein a lil off now that she's sittin lower and tires are neither chopped/cupped. not yet at least. haha toe's .02 on left .01 on right. and .01 steer ahead.. after all the feedback oreilly's had said that the 60-6144 is for auto/manual. so i ordered a plain manual axle for the drivers side ( N18031) seeing as the passenger side doesnt matter lsd, non all the same. but the drivers i guess is the finicky one from all my necromancing searching. and seeing as its the side all this ****s coming from id say thats it. it took 4.5 quarts.

"don't freak out man, check your trans fluid again and make sure the calibers are'nt stickin. "

max41 on a rs5f5ov as the fsm states 9.5 pints, roughly 4.5 quarts, 1 pt= .5 quart. should be fine. front calipers were properly lubed/proper piston movement, not hard to push in very little resistance. and im far from freaking out. if my car wasnt moving id be freaking out. its a vibration i was hoping some senior member like yourself would have had a explation/some situation familiar. good to know il be able to be that guy someday.
