ugh car died

So a little history on the past two weeks with the Max; its a bit long but thanks in advance for reading.

You might remember the one post on the starter dying. Got that changed, then proceeded to swap out Cylinder 5's misfire. Changed that one coil.

The following week, I put in new NGK coppers, cleaned throttle body and disabled the FIC but still had a weird starting issue. Then I realized it was only when the car is warm so I followed that thread and cleaned up the cam sensor by the timing chain.

Only thing left was the knock sensor which was shot because the cylinder 5 misfire caused the car to shake violently.

I thought I fixed everything and my gf drove it out to BK. Initially started fine, then she double parked and won't start anymore. Said all the lights are on, but the engine won't turn.

Now its towed to a shop and they have no idea what is going on either. I'm thinking it could still the three cam/camshaft or crank sensors. But there were no CEL codes.

If the electronics work, and the car won't crank over, you may want to check the ignition switch. If you have any kill switches in the car, make sure they are off.

Also year would help a lot.

check NATS

DO IT NOW

NATS is the Nissan immobilizer system. Basically, when you try to crank the car, does the red SECURITY light flash or stay solid ON? If it flashes, it's normal. If solid ON, you're immobilized and require a Nissan specific locksmith or trip to the dealer (and prepare your anus) for repair.

My guess is you're immobilized due to NATS

(and in the future, it's always a good idea to mention the year of the car in the post, mainly because those of us who use the mobile view or app don't see the profile info like those of us who log into the org via PC)

I'd bet it's the NATS. I've owned 3 different 99's, and it has happened to every last one of them. Costed me like 275.00 each time, but you get a new key out of it!

if so, then only the dealer can fix it right?

no... some locksmiths are familiar with NATS and have the proper tools / computer. Call around and you could get lucky and have one nearby to you.
