Help please: Car runs rough, white exhaust smoke, P0305 code

First off I am driving a 99 Maxima. So I was driving home from work today and noticed I lost some power and the car started running really rough. Then the CEL came on. So I pulled over and parked my car. It seems to run more rough when it is in drive and reverse. Park and neutral not so bad. My car is stranded right now but I was able to scan for codes and it came back with P0305 (cylinder 5 misfire) and P0325 (knock sensor 1 circuit, bank 1 or single sensor). The white smoke got me a little scared so I checked the radiator and it is still full to the top. Also checked oil and as far as I can tell the coolant is not mixing with the oil. Oh, and the exhaust smoke has a strong gasoline smell.

Any suggestions on what to check first? I'm kinda strapped for cash right now so am hoping I might be able to fix something without getting it towed to my house (15 miles away). I don't have any free towing.

Thanks!

Cylinder 5 fuel injector is stuck open and is flooding the cylinder. YOu have to remove the manifold to replace. Get it done soon before it damages your O2 sensors and cat converters.

Ok cool thanks. I thought it might be a blown head gasket because of the white smoke. I've removed the UIM before so shouldn't take me too long. Is this safe to drive home or should I have it towed?

How far is it from your house? If its less then 50 miles, you should be fine otherwise tow it.

15 miles. I decided to tow it just to be safe as it was running REALLY rough. I did an ohm test on the #5 injector and it came back at 11 ohm but from what I have read it can still be bad? Is there anything else I should check first or just go ahead and replace that injector? I plan on trying to pull one from picknpull as it is only $5 and new they seem pretty expensive.

Wouldn't you want to check the ignition coil on that cylinder before condemning the injector?

Yeah I'm going to check that as well. Any suggestions on how to check that? Reason i'm leaning to an injector is because a bad ignition coil I don't think would cause white smoke out of the exhaust and a very strong gas smell. Also my car leaks quite a bit of oil and it looks like there might be gas in the oil like clear spots in the puddle. I'm going to try the screwdriver to the injector and listen for it ticking. Hopefully that will tell me if the injector is bad for sure.

I took out the #5 injector last Thursday and the pintle and bottom o-ring had fallen off. I picked up a new injector from picknpull and put that in. The pintle wasn't in the best shape but so far so good. I ordered new pintles and o-rings online so I will have some handy in case it happens again but couldn't be carless while I waited for them to arrive. Just wanted to say thanks for helping me pinpoint the issue!
