Anyone in San Diego interested in installing Struts in 97-Maxmia?
Hi,
Looks like it's time to replace the Struts in my 97Maxima.
Local mechanics have told the car needs all four struts, Strut Mounts, Strut boots and bushing.
I see the parts(KYBs) are about $200 cheaper if I buy them online(CarPartsWholesale.com) and labor will be cheaper as well if got it done via out-of-shop mechanic.
1: Is it a good idea to get the struts installed via a mechanic out-of-shop or is it a bad idea?
2: If anyone here is from San Diego, have required tools and interested in doing it? How much will you charge?
Any other thoughts/suggestions are welcomed...

If you bought 4 struts already put together you wouldn't have to compress them (which is the only reason people think this job is hard in the first place) then you could either easily do it with a friend or find a local mechanic to do it for you. A large mechanic shop might not charge you less if you have pre-assembled struts.

AoD11,
I haven't bought them yet just got the price. I neither have expertise nor tools to do anything myself.
That's why I am looking for someone here. I can assist the person in whatever way I can.

Reread your post again since I skimmed through it the first time. An LA Chapter homie is selling a set of KYB AGX and Tein S-Tech's if youre interested in going lower while replacing. Ill forward him here.
