97-99 headlights on a 95-96

I have a 96 and if I were to get my hands on headlights from a 97-99, how well would they fit?

thanks

They are an exact fit. Many people have put 97-99 headlights on a 95-96. You should probably get the 97-99 clearance lights to go with the headlight though, they look better and match better.

Haha -- I didnt think I would find info like that in the 4th gen FAQs, now I know.

The reason Im wondering is (to make a long story short) Procarparts sent me the non diamond cut clear corners but accident and Im deciding whether or not to keep them or get the diamonds.

The clear corners I previously had are 2 years old (and pretty grimy) so the new ones look much better it's just that Ive never seen diamond cut clears on 95-96 and Im wondering how the contrast will be.

Also, Im wondering if I can spray anything on the clears as to prevent dirt build-up.

Clear Plastic Fogging

Anyone with the late model lights have any problems with the plastic fogging (from the outside, not moisture inside) or turning yellow?

Like NY96max said, just wax them every now and then.

Cool --any opinions or pics about 95-96 headlights with diamond cuts vs. with regular clears?

Wrong.

I have a '96 Maxima with the 97-99 headlights and clearance lights. The headlights fit fine, pops right in. Check my sig for proof. No need for new bumper or grill.

i had to drill out one hole on each side to make them fit right but other than that fits perfect! Even with the 97/99 clearance lights

as for the 95 headlights with diamonds, IMHO it looks fugly, stick with regular clears. If you plan on upgrading to 99 styled headlights then buy the diamonds

Matter of opinion, really. I have the diamond cut clears on my '95 w/ the stock headlights & think they look great. I get compliments on the look all the time, too. To each his own, but I would say the look is far from "fugly." Not even in the same zip code as "fugly."

But, that's just me.

Hm...odd, mine fitted fine with no problems. Even with the 97-99 clearance lights, fitted right in.

As far as the diamond cut, yes, without the headlights upgrade, it wouldn't look as good.

I have a 97. The '97-99 lenses are plastic. I am not sure if they chip more than glass but mine certainly are! Perhaps a consideration for you?

Most places Ive seen charge like $175 for just the headlights, junk yards havent been much better

How much of an improvement would you say they make?

111 each I presume.

Im not sure if it's worth it for $300 after shipping.

Yup, each. Yes, it's not cheap, but it definitely a better price than a dealer would give you.

Or you could try get an used pair. Try the for sale section.

-Which is exactly what I have - that WAS the context of my remark.

Would they look better w/ the '97-'99 headlight upgrade? Yes.

If you re-read my remarks, the context was that the diamond clears with the '95 headlights do not look "fugly," imho. That's just way off - serious exaggeration.

Unless you had applied clear urethane on it when it was new, this "fogging" is inevitable. Acrylic scratches too easily.

cosmetically they look 100x better than the older style. Night wise with light pattern id say they are a lil brighter and have a more focused beam pattern on the street.

in addition the 97-99 look better with the HID--in case you plan to go that route.

I don't think it should on these cars. I see them fog up on cheaper cars, but no way should it happen on Maxima's and I-30's. Also, I have a 99 TL which went into service around the same time as my 98 and the acrylic headlights on that car look like they rolled off the showroom floor. I think Datsun went the cheap on this. I tried to get the dealer to change them once, but they just polished it out and said thats what I need to do, I don't think I should have to do anything to keep it clean if they did it correctly.

We need to do a class action lawsuit so all of the guys on the org can get new headlights!

pop the hood.
remove the 2 corner lights.
you should see 2 screws on the side and theres 2 screws behind each headlight (1 on top of adjusting **** closer to the center of the car and 1 on top by the outer housing of the headlight itself).
they are all 10mm M6 screws.

after you take off those screws, your grille will be attached to both headlights. use a flathead screwdriver to press on the tabs to release the grille.

after you release the tabs and free the grille, just pull out the headlights and there you go.

i hope that was simple enough. but if you have any questions pm me or e-mail me at nyczsleepy83@aol.com. ill try to get pictures or something to help you out.
