I'll be at the dealer grabbing a new pin so I might as well get the castle nut and washer that sits behind the nut too. Should be less than $10.

I think my passenger side axle needs replacing too

It.looks like a castle nut. Thin washer with cutouts around. It's just one piece you'll need. Sorry for any confusion.

Update:

So I changed the axle today and everything went 100% smooth without any issues. I was able to do it without disconnecting the tie rod or ball joint (wasn't sure if I was going to be able to or not). I just unbolted the caliper, hung it on the coilover spring and unbolted the two bolts that attach to the knuckle. That was it!

I didn't change the seal. When I popped out the axle, not a single drop of tranny fluid came out so that seal has to be mint. I also ended up not changing the wheel bearing. When the new axle was in, I grabbed the tire at 12o'clock and 6o'clock and it was tight so the axle must've been the issue.

Afterwards I put the car on the rack and adjusted the toe. The car is nice and smooth now. No more vibration on acceleration!! I'm super happy. I can't wait to change the passenger side to get rid of the clunking. Going with a Raxle on that side of course. +1 for Marty and Raxles.

Nice Chris .... glad it went well and you got er done!

The ps is a breeze too, use a long extension behind the strut pillar to hit the 3 - 14mm bolts holding the carrier bearing on .... hly hell i can't type tonight, that just took like 3 tries.

I'm thinking that's what I'm gonna do. Easier than trying to remove the axle from the carrier while still on the car right? Kinda tough to get to those bolts.

EDIT: Got my bolts mixed up

noyce. Knew you wouldnt have trouble. Its not difficult its just uneasy because I have never changed one out before but you obviously researched before which is what I did and there isnt a laundry list of stuff to do before hand. No more complicated than changing break pads which BTW, to make you jealous, I dont even have to take my calipers off to change pads now

I've never changed one before either but I did do extensive research on it. It also helps when you have a lift and air tools.

lol I wish. Lift would have been nice and really just air tools for taking the lugs off. It sounds lazy but thats what I dread the most about working on whatever it may be. Taking the damn wheels off. Seriously hate it. I need a better jack too. Glad you got em on now. Traction during/after a U-turn is amazing.

After reading through this thread Im going to go with Raxles myself. Doing passenger side axle cause I have a torn inner boot. In addition, from some feedback from a memeber here, after replacing my passenger side strut assembly my car will not go into any gear. Just hear a grinding sound going into any gear but nuetral. He said my shaft may have disengaged from the trasmission. Didnt know this was even possible just replacing the strut.

I'll find out once I put the new axle in.

I recently replaced both side with raxles and now I have vibration like thump and especially at speed over 55. Could this be a problem with the axles? Did not have this problem before the swap.

Did unbolt or loose any of the suspension part? If so, you might need an alignment.
