I might be pessimistic with this MS3 box, but it would be great if this works out in the end. I think it would fill a price & performance gap between the EMU and Haltech. SAFC/VAFC - EMU - MS3? - JWT - Haltech - AEM EMS - Motec/Pectel.

A Motec Maxima.

Not even Harold would run that!!!!

Annndddd fixed.

Just PM'd that guy.....

Who had the MT maxima ready for testing? If this guy falls through then we're sending the MT one.

Ok guys, come Monday this is happening, auto or not. Surely someone has a stock auto winter beater they could do without for a couple of months.

You can buy a aem datalogging wideband setup for cheap nowadays so the safc vafc is the best bang for your buck... I sold mine, EMB, and bought the EMU. Kinda bit the bullet for my setup but I keep telling myself it'll be worth it in the end.

just to bump the page...I see that I'm the last one to post since 1pm yesterday, we are about to jump on this (meaning my car will go up in January), and this page isn't blowing up. Maybe we should validate the order request and make sure all that said they were committed to buy are still interested.

Me 2
Would have sent my 95 auto that runs just fine if only it hadn't got rear ended in August. The car is coming along more slowly than anticipated. Might just use this in my 99 I30 auto. Since the wife totalled her van during Thanksgiving we are left with only my I30 as transportation for the both of us.

just read the bickering, and wow, some of you guys need to be alittle more optomistic. Correct me if im wrong but isnt the 4th gen ECU very similar to the S13/14 and Z32 ECU? A few people in those communities are running MS. If those can be figured out its just applying what they have learned from then to the A32.

Kinda - the 4th gen ECU does have a weird and unique cam/crank sensors timing pattern that keeps the major ECU builders away from it. There isn't a ton of Maxima 4th gen owners that would buy one if MS could make one that works - but if MS can come up with a piggy-back card to interface our 4th-gen sensors to their MS III, and do plug-and-play, then I'll buy one.

In an epic attempt to further our ongoing creations.. we could all donate to a single fund to buy ONE stock 4at 4th gen maxima off of craigslist near where MS does their dirty work.......

It could work.... lol

PM me to step up, don't reply, I'm not on this thread often....

Megasquirt is WAITING ON US....

Just checked w/AutoTrader - there are eighteen 96-99 Nissan Maximas for sale within 25 miles of Suwanee GA. Prices range from about $2,500 to $4,500. All peeps that really want to buy a MS ECU can contirbute to a pool and buy one of these 4th gen Maximas and have MS go pick it up and start development - or send MS the $$ and they can go buy something for a test mule.

???

if people want this for an auto, cant you just use a suprastick to control the auto?

easily IMO cheaper than 2500 too

^ That's correct from what little I know of the Suprastik.

Guys it's even simplier than that.

We can buy a 95-99 from the auto auctions, one with light damage and delivered to megasquirt all for under a grand.....

I mean if you wanna start a pool for that, I'm all in also.

Kevlo - remember, this project was intended to create a replacement ECU for the 4th gens - a plug-and-play ECU that may have the abllity to handle an automatic, depending on the donor car. If the donor was a 5-spd, then automatic owners would also need a Suprastik for shifting - or something like it.

The MSIII ECU would be a real step forward for the 4th gen cars, and possibly much cheaper than the Haltech and similar fully developed ECUs. I threw out the idea of buying a car for MS development because it appears that no one can deliver a 4th gen test mule to Suwanee GA, even with a commited $150 toward expenses. If they don't get a car, this project dies.

I do find it difficult to believe that there are no ORG members around Atlanta that would provide a car for this project, but the real 4th gen modders are getting fewer every day. One of these guys should step up with their car if they're still in the game.

Do we still have 10 commited buyers for the MSIII ECU if it becomes available? I doubt it - but it's time to stand up and be counted, contribute money for a auction donor car, or watch the project die.

Aaron - you went the extra mile in getting this ECU development arranged, and you deserve kudos for that.
