Oil light flicker......
So the past few mornings i go to start up the car and the oil light flickers 3 times and goes off and stays off. Oil level is perfect 5w30 mobile1 synthetic. Just wondering if i need to have mechanic test oil pressure. Not really sure where to start checking things out....
Im pretty urgent with this only because im moving 800 miles away next week and i want to be sure this things getting proper oil pressure so im not screwed in the middle on nowhere.....

changing to 10w isnt going to help even the owners manuel says it may flicker upon start up mine does the same thing and has been sence i owned the car. theres nothing to worry about as long as it doesn keep doing it while its running...if ur oil level is ok than i wouldnt worry about it ...like i said even the owners manual says it might flicker for a sec or two when starting now if it was doing it while u were driving than there would be an issue

Maybe...I am pretty sure infinimax96 just had this same problem and he solved it by replacing the oil pressure sensor switch. Here's his thread...post #9 he says he replaced the sensor and no problems.

Edit: but I guess his was flickering while driving...but still, it was not on constantly and replacing the switch worked for him. just a place to start I guess.

mines done it every start up for about a second for the pas 6 years and 70 thousand miles, its old yes but like ive mentioned before even the owners manual says its ok if the light flickers for a second or so upon start up...ill look it up and tell you what page its on if you would like me to

A number of people have had this problem...I just did a search and found this thread http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...-start-up.html
I think as long as you are not hearing any other noises/rattles AND it only does it upon start up, you are probably OK.
1 1/16 deep socket to get it out cant hurt anything to change it, its only a $10 part. I changed mine and the damn thing was not even screwed in all the way.

The sensor is cheap and took like 5 mins to change, 10 min with an oil change. You don't have to change the oil, mine just needed a change.

Ok so today I did the oil change and oil pressure switch....i went under to unplug it and it was barely hanging on.....
wth? i wonder how long the plug was snapped lol....anywho yall were right, the oem one was 1 1/16" deep to get it out but the one i replaced it with was only 3/4" autozone duralast. also switched to 10w mobile one synthetic and genuine nissan filter. ill report tomorrow n let you know if the flicker is gone.
thanks again!
