Let's get BRM [3 inch catback] Exhausts into production for 4th gen's!

I'm sure many of you have heard about the exhaust company BRM that now supplies performance cat-back options for 3rd gen's and 5th gen's. If you don't know about them, check out their site here http://www.brmexhaust.com/

I sent them an email a few hours ago inquiring about catback development for 4th gen maximas, and even specifically talked about a 3 inch system and this is the response i got a few minutes ago.

"Hi Wes -
If we can get a 4G to our shop in Miami to build a jig from, we'll certainly offer one.

Honestly, so far, the Maxima community has been pretty quiet, even after we built affordable 3" systems for the 3G and 5G. Maybe the 4G owners will step up!"

This is definitely an opportunity to help build upon the small aftermarket we have for our cars, and provide us with a quality 3 inch option that can now only be attained through a custom exhaust job, since Cattman refuses to make them again.

Is there anything specifically that you guys would be looking for in the exhausts?

Hopefully someone that lives in south Florida will be able to allow BRM to use their 4th gen for development. I wish you guys good luck getting it done!

have you had any experience with their exhausts? from what i've seen they're pretty solid systems and worth the price.

Out of curiosity, why 3"? I can see if the car has mods and maximum exhaust flow at high rpm would be desired. Also one thing to consider is clearance. 3" exhausts on 5th gens are really tight fitting where they have to go up and over the rear beam axle.

Clearance is not an issue with 4th gens. The 'over the axle' part is much different than 5th gens.

the gains were proven with the cattman 3 inch in comparison to the cattman 2.5. I guess the major benefit of the 3 inch is for more extensive builds where you'd want to pull every bit out of power out of the car. I imagine people with superchargers would definitely benefit from the less restricted exhaust.

@chrisman have him email greg@brmexhausts.com

in fact, anyone who would be interested should just shoot greg an email. all he wants to see is interest. he's definitely interesting in development something for us.

I can understand a 3" for that. A friend of mine has a turbo'd 4th gen, and his exhaust is 3".

one thing that is nice about the BRM option is that it's pretty much a fully customizable system from tube sizing to resonator options. the only thing I'm not a big fan of is the lack of a flanged axle back section, but for the prices they offer exhausts at, i think it would be worth the money. if i want to run a different muffler, i can have a custom axle back set up made, but would have the mandrel bent piping for significantly cheaper than custom shops would provide. Greg seems pretty open to suggestions too so i think this would be a good opportunity for the maxima community to find a possible replacement for Cattman, especially given the direction (or lack thereof) the company is heading in.

Hopefully a flanged axle-back section can be done.

I would be very interested as well. Its hard for a company to develop a product on hopes that there will be buyers. It will run the same course Cattman did where it gets developed and nobody buys it because its too expensive and they aren't serious about performance. Once my Sc is on and functioning properly I will. with 100% certainty, be shopping for a 3" system. I just wont get my hopes up. Most of the exhaust work we have to get is custom stuff.

Assuming the cost will be similar to 5th gens, a 3 inch for our cars will be around 500.

Yes, for aluminized steel. Stainless steel runs about $600ish according to the website. And don't forget $45 for shipping. Even still, much cheaper than Cattman.

ok, people let's move on this we can get the exhaust in production, but more importantly of all let's focus on the the whole exhaust from the headers to the cat-backs mufflers. I am wondering if you guys are gonna get some one with the FED/CALI spec car because the o2 will be a problem and what about the fittment, remember we don't want to repeat the same mistake that we have dealt with on CATTMAN. I am more than sure that I will be in this but if we can get all of the right cars and the fittment issues not a problem.

This is funny....Go CUSTOM or GO HOME! That's the same thing BRM's telling your freaking knuckleheads.......You want perfection DIY or go to a local performance exhaust shop and You can bug the crap out of them once it starts banging too!

You have one more avenue MES (Mandrel bent Exhaust Solutions) call make a list of those interested and get them to build a tubing kit or a full spectrum of tubing sizes (2.25", 2.5", 3") I did this for the 3rd gen and the tubing kit cost 4 or 5 of us about $125 ea for the 2.5" tubing kit! You can email them or call them, but you will need several people on a waiting list (Just like Cattman!!!!) Before they will even build it! You gotta give thanks to all you Maxima buddies that like too say their interested in innovative performance products and then pull out not paying a dime for any of these manufacturing company's time and materials.......I call it El Cheapos and it's an ongoing thing here on the org! So for you 4th Gen ****'s interested in a 3" catback please sign up here!

2........
3........
4........
5........
6........
