Knock Sensor triggering CEL question

Knock Sensor triggering CEL question
Has anyone else ever had their KS trigger the CEL to come on with no other codes? A few months ago, I got the KS code WITH the rear O2 code, replaced the O2 and BOTH codes went away. Well, my CEL came on yesterday and the only code I got was for the KS. I pulled the KS out and heres what I found...a big crack. Threw a new one in and no codes now.
Main reason for this thread is, I have seen a lot of posts saying the KS alone will not trigger the CEL...which mine did. Do I have a weird car LOL? Just curious if anyone else has had this happen to them as well. Hoping to figure out if the KS being a ghost code only is a fact or myth.

Man, its all over the org people saying it will not trigger the cel. That's the main objective of this thread...to try to figure out the facts and maybe why it triggers it for some people but not for others and maybe set things straight.

Since We Are On The Topic, I Just Had My Knock Sensor Replaced For A Dirt Cheap Price And My CEL Is Still On... Hooked It Up To A Code Reader And Bank 1 Sensor 1 Came Up... Where Is This Sensor Located? Pictures Would Be Lovely

Edit: I believe b1 sensor 1 is the front passenger side. here Is a link http://www.nissanhelp.com/diy/maxima...tification.htm
Chances are that your o2 sensor triggered the knock sensor code....was your ks actually bad (cracked or anything)? When my bank 1 sensor 2 o2 was bad, I got the ks code but once I fixed the o2, it went away for about 6 months until the other day and the ks was fine when that code came up with the o2 sensor one. Then the other day I got just the ks code and it was obviously bad since It was cracked.

Nope, no knocking that I could hear but I run premium...just the obvious big crack. Not mpg loss, no hesitation so I never would have got it without the cel coming on. Strange, I know.

Put It This Way: When I Was Fidgeting With It After It Was Taken Out, It Broke Into Pieces

My KS did not trigger a CEL but it was cracked in 3 different places. So I don't think the crack would make any difference in turning on the CEL, but like someone stated maybe some bad knocking was happening.
