what gasket was replaced?

Last year my father was driving the 4th gen. As it had a misfire at idle but never missed at 2000+ rpm.

I did the basic, replaced sparked plugs. Swapped coilpacks around to see if the miss would jump cylinders and it didn't. Swapped injectors around and nothing changed. I think it was always a miss on cylinder 5 or 6.

I completely forgot about that till now and i asked him what happened. He paid someone to replace a "gasket." I drove it today and it was good no more misfires, but now it has me wondering what was replaced.

I popped open the hood and saw leaking valve covers so i know it wasn't that. Everything else looks to be untouched.

So the million question is, what gasket could of been replaced to cure a misfire on a single cylinder only at idle.

This was my first guess but i looked at some of the valve cover bolts and they seem untouched. In order to get to the spark plug boots you have to replace the valve cover and should replace it while your there. The covers are leaking insanely in the front so i know it wasn't replaced.

The upper or lower intake manifold gasket does seem like a spot. Sadly my father doesn't have the powerwork. He does remember it was a gasket. No idea on cost or what.

I recently replaced my valve cover gaskets (both right and left bank), grommets, plug seals and also replaced the upper gasket on the intake phlenum. After putting everything back together the car turns but doesnt fire. My first guess was the coil packs but I just wanted to get an opinion before I go and spend more money. Would a failing EGR gasket (the one that connects to the intake manifold) cause the engine not to fire?
