fail thread, love my car

Probably a waste of bandwidth, but here goes. We had a birthday party to go to in Lincoln city OR. The wife decided my car would get better mileage so we took it. A third of this trip was winding hilly coast highway in 3rd and 4th gear. Including 30 miles driven before the 210 mile trip, I used less that half a tank with zero issues from the Max. Its awesome that at over 268,000 miles the Max is a better car than my parents Gran Prix was at 80K. I love my car.

its so true man...

at 135k, my car is better than my girl's 2005 focus, my cousin's 2003 lancer, the 2010 charger (base model), 2011 kia kizashi, chevy cobalt (even the SS versions too cuz these cars have NO refinement), any 2000+ dodge neon (for the same reasons as the SS cobalt, but i wd take the cobalt over the neon ANYDAY).

A lot of ppl give me **** cuz i drive a used car and i could afford a new car if i wanted one. but they dont understand the max.

Put simply, anyone that i have let drive my max or drive with me instantly understands why im so infatuated with the max. THe 4th gen is an awesome car!!!!

I have 97 Max with 250k Miles and it's better than my buddies Scion. His broke down last week

I also have a 96 i30 that I bought years before my Max and have over 200k miles on that. Still trugs along better then any car I've ever seen.

Not sure it's possible to find a car as amazing and as PRACTICAL as our cars can be. Honestly how many cars to date do you see with loads of trunk space, 4 doors with loads of rear leg room, that can push as much power as a Max can and keep running 300k miles+. It's unheard of.

my maxima is considerably better than roller skates

but real talk yo i do like fourth generation maximae, simple cars easy to take care of cheap fun to drive comfortable big reasonably economical for a v6

make you look a bit like a small-time drug dealer but that's the price you pay and who cares how you look anyway

Man, I gotta love these cars. 315K and this car is a running workhorse. My upper oil pan is pouring oil and smoking because it running on exhaust and this car still beats the competition stock. Parking up my baby tonight to reseal it but I am taking back the other 4th gen max I bought for my mother in the mean time...lol

The car is so good that she parked up her 06 Pathfinder after I bought her that car because it uses less gas and has very few problems. Since I did all the repairs before giving her, she only bugged me about the exhaust hitting something at the bottom and she was worried that it was going to fall off...lol

Agreed to the fullest, i had an accident with my max, and it is holding up way way way better than my mum's 2000+ Jetta. Maxi has 230k og miles on it and has no oil leaks when compared to my mothers jetta which has 50k on her new tranny.

These cars we were blessed with are notorious for outlasting the competition man.

Not that I have anything against Maximas since I have one as one of my vehicles. But seriously, it's just an average car. Not a sports car no matter how many performance or cosmetic modifications you do to it. A reliable car, yes. Best car of all time, no. Maybe in its price range but there are plenty of cars that are better than a Maxima, it's not like its necessary to bash Hondas (Not that you guys are) or other makes.

I've owned a large variety of vehicles included Mercedes Benz 190E, Ford Escort GT, Honda Civic, Toyota Camry. They all had their ups and downs as far as repairs and maintenance but none can match up to my I30 or Maxima.

I've put well over 70k miles on my I30 and other then few basic things such as starter, alternator and anything else that would go bad on a 12 year old car it just keeps running with no problems. That's more to say then what I got out of any of my previous cars before they had to be scrapped do to blown this or broken that.

You might wanna say I just got lucky(got a good apple out of the bunch).. But everywhere I turn I see more and more Maxima's and every time I ask the owner if they love their Maxi they always say something like: "I've taken this car to hell and back and it still gets me everywhere I need to go with no fus".

I wouldn't go as far as to say it's the best car ever made either. But they do tend to go 300k+ miles. They are pretty luxurious if you have a GLE or SE with all the fancy stuff. They are very sporty, and can be very fast. Bugatti Vayron fast? No. But still faster then most people probably need for a daily driver. Even with all the sportiness and luxury they still are cheap to maintain and get better gas millage then a sports car or SUV. All in all for the price I honestly couldn't find a better contender.

Oh don't get me wrong, I love my Maxima as a daily driver. But I was just referring to the folks that bash other car makes. Personally, I'd feel safer driving a suburu than a Maxima just because of the AWD. Weather gets pretty ****ty up here.

I agree. My 95 GLE is amazing. I previously owned...(dont kill me) a 97 Mitsu Eclipse and i put several thousand dollars into it...not to make it look cool or drive fast but to allow it to get me home from work. granted i have only had this Max for 2 months, but i would never go with another car. My wife has a 06 kia spectra and she always wants to take my car places...Maximas FTW

In all seriousness, I agree with the OP about lovin' the Max. Even though I'm only 18, I've owned 5 cars. I drove nearly all of them further than 10,000 miles and outta the 97 Accord, 96 240sx, 98 Saturn SL1, and the 97 Civic 5 speed I had this car has been the most reliable. I remember someone in this thread said all of their cars had their ups and downs, these were no exception, but the Max has so many ups it surpasses the others. I sold them all because I was sick with all the repairs on them, especially the amount of things that would go wrong with the Saturn.

The Max however is different. It is very fuel efficient (After I installed a new knock sensor anyway) and the only car that I have ever owned that has a little "umph" when I accelerate. Not to mention the reliability and easy maintenance. I've owned this car for as long as my mom has owned her 09' Santa FE and her car has broken down more than the Maxima, which it has yet to do (Knocks on wood). It even drives better than a lot of the newer cars I've driven. I honestly drove a 2012 Cruze with a little over 200 miles on it the other day (Customer's car) and my Max ran better. Really says something for a 14 year old car. Idk if its because my SE is fully loaded w/o the bose, but the quality of this car also feels better than newer cars. It's not a "true" sports car, but it can haul its weight faster than a lot of other cars around and for what its capable of, more practical. It's been a good car for the past year and I know it'll last me years to come with only 137k on the clock.

The Maximas are one of the best Bang for the buck cars on the road. I had a 89 Maxima, Bought it with 212k miles. Drove it like I stole it till the tune of 315k miles. I had the normal issues, starter, alt, clutch, and window motors. Sold it to a buddy for 200 dollars after I thought it was done. My buddy put a new timing belt guide in for $60 and drove it another year. He sold it for $1000. I Bought my 99 Se shortly after that and just crossed 200k. Love Every aspect of my car. I will probably drive a Max till i can't drive anymore.

Ill add:

My 01 I30, 96 Max GXE and my GFs 96 I30t have been nothing but greatness for us down, and all 3 cars have over 300+km. I always get asked what year my I30 is and nobody believes its a 01. My winter beater Maxima has never let us down and all they've needed was regular maintance ( aside from a MAF, and transmission solenoid). All in all these cars are tanks

i love my maxima. it is my first car and i have done most of the repairs to it including window regulators, spark plugs, radio (decided to stop working one day), ignition coils etc. it has not been an easy ride with her but every time i fix something and take it out its like shes got a new lease on life. to the maximas credit the engine runs better then both of my parents 2004 toyotas and i have not had a problem with the engine at all. its just the little things around the engine that after 16 years (its a 95 gxe) go bad/corrode/dry out. its a great car though and makes everyones jaw drop when i tell them its a 95 when they ask what kind of car it is. i wouldnt trade it for the world.

38,000 miles for 2 years. I commute over 60 miles a day, reliable and good on highway. The best car I owned (so far).
