Car jerking, hesitating, suggestions?
I have a 95 automatic Maxima that has been having a series of problems lately.
Starting a few months ago, it began hard shifting very badly. I replaced the drop resistor and the problem went away.
Then, it began stalling regularly, wouldn't start, smelled gassy at times, hesitated when the accelerator was applied. I changed the fuel filter and the problems went away.
Now the problems have returned (identical symptoms). It would seem there is a problem with the system but I open to any suggestions.
In the past 6 months I have replaced...
Fuel pressure regulator
Fuel Filter
MAF
Drop Resistor
Air Filter
Regular Oil Maintenance

I will check the codes as soon as possible and post them.
I have passed this car on to a family member so it is not currently in my possession (suspiciously, all of these problems began after I was no longer driving the car, HMMM).

I have checked the codes and they are the following -
53 - Front Right Oxygen Sensor
13 - Engine Coolant Sensor
34 - Knock Sensor
It seems like any one of these three might contribute to the problem or possibly a confluence of all?

ECS is the culprit of the hesistation. It adjusts AFR based on temp. Knock sensor will affect your MPG and power. All these codes are pretty much in conjuction to your poor performance.

Check and replace the ECTS if necessary, and swap your two front O2 sensors to see if it displays a code for "left front oxygen sensor" (03-03). If so, replace the sensor. If not, the problem is in the wiring, but this is seldom the case. More often than not the sensor itself is bad. Wait on the knock sensor code until the other two problems are fixed. It may go away by itself.

After discovering how much of a pain in the *** it was to swap the O2 sensors around, and realizing it was only $20 for a new coolant sensor from Napa I went ahead and bought one and it seems to have taken care of the problems. I will let you know if it stays that way.

Spot on. This should be your first priority. I had this issue. Completely fixed after replacing this sensor. Easy fix too

Did you replace the MAF with an expensive one? I replaced mine 9 months ago with a $60 ebay one - which within 6 months of installing it - had terrible jerking, hestitating, no power when coming off the clutch, etc. I ponied up $250 for a reconditioned Nissan one from Autozone and she has been smooth as silk ever since. Just my .02cents...
